Take A Closer Look At Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Symbiote Costume With This Expensive Toy

Slimy symbiote fashion is so hot right now.

Spider-Man's got a new look in his next game, albeit one that comic book fans are very familiar with. Ditching the traditional red, white, and blue threads for something more organic, Peter Parker's new look is a simple black-and-white symbiote ensemble that packs a heck of a punch. And thanks to Hot Toys, you can take a closer look at that slimy new costume ahead of the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on October 20.

Just like the comic book source material, the symbiote alternate costume is elegantly simple in its design. It's primarily black with the white Spider-Man symbol wrapping around Peter Parker, but this look has received the Insomniac touch. While the comic book version is essentially a onesie that debuted all the way back in 1984's Secret Wars #8, this version has more subtle details. Exposed panels, a shiny surface to replicate the organic nature of this costume, and nuanced lines are woven into this design.

For the Hot Toys replica, this figure also includes a newly developed body when compared to its previous Video Game Masterpiece Spider-Man line, articulated pincers with black tendrils, an array of accessories including a black web shooter with newly designed black webbing accessories, web-wings, a tentacle effect, matching interchangeable hands, and a display base. The coolest extra here, exclusive to the special edition, is an additional masked head in mid-transformation. Pricing isn't available yet, but it's likely that it'll be around the $305 mark that the Spider-Man 2.0 figure retails for .

This isn't the only new figure that Hot Toys announced this week, as the company unveiled the first entries in its Artisan Line. The Joker from The Dark Knight and Anakin Skywalker from Revenge of the Sith are getting brand-new figures, with the highlights of these sixth-scale replicas being expertly coifed wool hair implants.
