TGS '07: MyStylist Hands-On

If you think the worst thing about waking up in the morning is figuring out what to wear, you'll soon be able to turn to your PSP to help make this task less tedious. MyStylist for the PlayStation Portable is like your own personal stylist--except a lot cheaper. We got a chance to check the title out at TGS '07.

MyStylist performs quite a number of functions. You can photograph and import your clothes into the program using a PSP camera or a file from a Memory Stick. Then the "game" will catalog them according to color, style, size, and type. MyStylist can track a number of different items, including shirts, outerwear, one-pieces, skirts, pants, shoes, hats, purses, jewelry, socks, and glasses. Once you've added your clothes, you can mix and match pieces to see how they look together. In theory, you can take your PSP to the clothing store, take a picture of a shirt, and then see how it looks with clothes you already have at home.

Have a sense of style that makes you a prime candidate for What Not To Wear? The CPU can put together an outfit for you. It will analyze colors and styles before recommending the perfect outfit for that day. If your eye for style is just fine, you can use the program to see how much of each type of clothing you own, and even track your clothes by color.

The details haven't been worked out just yet, but the developer is planning on having some sort of functionality that lets you connect to the Internet and preview clothes from online sites along with your own clothes.

One thing is for sure, MyStylist is unique; it also seems as if it will be quite useful. Now it just needs to make it to the US. It's not yet confirmed for North America, but is scheduled to be released in Japan in late winter or early spring.
