The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has leaked online via psdeals.net, a website that tracks PlayStation Store listings. Never-before-seen cover art featuring the game's characters, Ellie and Abby, is featured in the listing alongside details on the game's new modes and other changes. While the listing includes only a placeholder launch date, shortly after this initial leak, a trailer was shared exclusively by Insider Gaming which includes a launch date of January 19, 2024. You can see the listing for yourself via psdeals.net.

According to the store listing, which pulls game details directly from PlayStation's currently-private PSN page for the game, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will feature a number of new features, game modes, and accessibility options when it comes to PS5. This includes visual and technical buffs such as a new 4K fidelity mode, improved loading times, and "full" DualSense integration.

No Return, a new roguelike mode, also comes with this version. In it, players can choose from a number of characters, some of whom have never been playable in the series before, as they try to survive as long as they can through a series of randomized encounters. Each character will possess their own unique traits and the mode includes boss battles, too.

Lost Levels mode will let players experience some parts of the game as early-development versions that were later cut from the original release, while new developer commentary can be activated for players looking to add new insights to their experience. Guitar Free Play will allow players to toy with Ellie's intricate guitar minigame at will. New skins for Ellie, Abby, and weapons can also be unlocked in-game with the remaster.

For players seeking more accessibility options, the original 2020 game already did quite a lot in that regard, but the remaster adds descriptive audio and speech-to-vibration options.

Update (November 17, 2023, 5:00 PM PT): Sony and Naughty Dog have now confirmed the news. You can read the official developer blog post, which includes the same details alongside some additional words from the studio's Jonathan Dornbush.
