The Next Pokemon Trading Card Game Set Is All About The Original 151

Scarlet And Violet - 151 will center around the Pokemon that started it all.

After launching two sets themed after the most recent Pokemon games, the Pokemon Trading Card Game's next set will focus entirely on the first batch of pocket monsters to enter the franchise. The Pokemon Company announced the Pokemon TCG Scarlet And Violet - 151 expansion today, and it is scheduled to launch both in stores and on the Pokemon TCG Live app on September 22.

The set will feature all 151 Pokemon from the first generation of Pokemon games--Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Artwork for the card will depict the creatures in and around Paldea, which is the region from the newest games, Pokemon Scarlet And Violet.

Premium cards in the set will include the following:

  • 12 "Pokémon ex" cards
  • 16 "illustration rare" Pokemon and Supporter cards
  • Seven "special illustration rare" Pokémon and Supporter cards
  • 16 ultra-rare full-art etched Pokémon and Supporter cards
  • Three hyper-rare gold-etched cards

Cards will be available in the following packs:

  • Single booster packs of 10 cards each
  • Elite Trainer Boxes which contain nine packs and other accessories,
  • Poster Collection bundle with three packs, three promo cards, and a double-sided poster
  • Binder Collection with four packs and a binder that can hold up to 360 cards.
  • All of these will be available at the set's launch.

Preorders for a special Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box with two extra packs are available now at the online Pokemon Center store. This is not the first Pokemon TCG announcement which centered around the franchise's origins, as the Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic bundle was revealed earlier this year and will launch during the holiday season.
