Top 10 UK Games Chart: Nintendo Switch's Labo Fails To Knock God Of War From No.1

PS4 exclusive God of War has kept its place atop the UK physical games chart this week--while Far Cry 5 maintains its No.2 position--meaning new release Nintendo Labo must settle for No.3 at launch. To be precise, it's the Toy-Con 1: Variety Kit that's reached No.3. The other Labo set, Toy-Con 2: Robot Kit debuts at No.20 for the week ending April 28.

There were no other new releases this week, unless you include the Nintendo Switch version of South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which helps the game as a whole re-enter the chart at No.19. Notably, last week's No.3--PS4 exclusive Yakuza 6: The Song of Life--slips to No.39 this week.

Now Playing: Putting The Nintendo Labo To The Test

Little else has changed in the all-formats chart this week. FIFA 18 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are non-movers at No.4 and No.5, respectively, as is Grand Theft Auto V at No.10. God of War, meanwhile, is seemingly going down well with players in the UK. It went down well critically too, and it was awarded a 9/10 in our God of War review.

"In many ways God of War is what the series has always been," wrote our critic, Peter Brown. "It's a spectacular action game with epic set pieces, big-budget production values, and hard-hitting combat that grows more feverish and impressive as you progress. What may surprise you is how mature its storytelling has become. Like Kratos, God of War recalls the past while acknowledging the need to improve. Everything new it does is for the better, and everything it holds onto benefits as a result. Kratos is no longer a predictable brute. God of War is no longer an old-fashioned action series. With this reboot, it confidently walks a new path that will hopefully lead to more exciting adventures to come."
