"With the launch of Assassins Creed Mirage upon us, we would kindly ask you to consider your fellow Assassin's and refrain from posting or sharing unmarked spoilers that would impact their experience," Ubisoft tweeted.

Notable recent examples include Mortal Kombat 1, Starfield, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which has regularly led to developers to ask fans to be mindful of others and not leak plot details online out of common courtesy. To take things a step further, you can protect yourself online with a few other steps. YouTube can be a minefield of spoilers after a game launches, especially if you've been watching trailers for previews for a certain game before launch. It's not uncommon for YouTube to recommend raw gameplay that is loaded with spoilers, but there's an easy way to avoid this.

Clearing your YouTube search history of specific terms that you'd want to avoid can be done by going to the homepage, clicking on the three-line menu, and then clicking on the history option to do some tweaking. You can sift through your watch history, search for certain keywords, and delete those results to potentially protect yourself from channels that have no issue with uploading spoilers. Telling YouTube what kind of content you want to see, also helps quite a bit.

If you're using Google Chrome, you can also install plugins like Spoiler Protection to help you out, although you will need to grant it permission to monitor the data of the websites you visit before it can start muting keywords. Of course, the only foolproof method to avoid spoilers is to go offline entirely, giving you a relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy your new game without having to be hyper-vigilant between sessions.
