US World Cyber Games champs announced

The United Cyber Games Association has announced the winners of the Samsung World Cyber Games 2003 USA tournament. The 17 winners and runners-up listed below had to compete in regional qualifying and semifinal rounds before reaching the US finals, which were held August 19 and 20 in Irvine, California. The winners will receive a trip to Seoul, Korea, to compete as a member of Team USA at the world finals event, where gamers from 55 countries will compete for a part of $350,000 in cash and prizes. All the US finalists also received a high-end PC and a Samsung 19-inch CRT monitor.

"We are very excited about this year's US team," said Joe Moss, executive director of UCGA. "These competitors showed amazing skill and great sportsmanship in winning their respective games. We are sending a great squad of the country's top gamers who will not only represent the US well, but will also have an excellent chance to bring home the medal title."
