War Games Comes to Consoles
The retro '80s film that made computing a household word moves into new territory with a new action/strategy title.
Not afraid to use some of its older movie licenses for games, MGM Interactive is currently developing an action/strategy title based on the '80s film War Games. Twenty years after the events of the movie, the WOPR super computer has decided that to really exterminate war, it must wipe out humanity.
The game itself is a mix of arcade and strategy play, as the player can decide to physically control troops, copters, jeeps, mechs, or other vehicles in battle; scroll through and assign the different units to carry out various tasks; or both. The title can also be played by two players competitively or cooperatively against the WOPR.
War Games: Defcon 1 is set for a May release for the Sony PlayStation. A vastly different title will be available for the PC the same month. Check out today's story on the game for shots and an interview with the team leader behind the title.
