Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader - Footfall Hidden Caches Guide

Find the locations of these secret containers in Footfall in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

Comments

The Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Footfall Hidden Caches objective can be downright confusing. It's not just because of the riddles that you need to solve, but also because there's an area that's inaccessible early on. Our guide discusses where to find all Footfall Hidden Caches in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader so you can complete the Dreams and Stories quest.

All Footfall Hidden Cache locations in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

You can find all Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Footfall Hidden Caches based on the clues from an NPC named Gordei Skatov. Skatov himself can be found inside the bar at the opposite end of the Footfall Shadow Quarters zone. It's also where you'll start the recruitment process for Jae, a potential companion.

In any case, ask Skatov about rumors and he'll let you know of two long-forgotten containers on the planet. These Hidden Caches will appear in the Rumors tab of your quest log. Later, once you've obtained your first clue, you'll receive the Dreams and Stories quest proper.

As an aside, these secret containers appeared for us just as we got fairly close to their respective locations. We can't confirm if a character's Awareness skill is also taken into consideration. We do suggest holding the Shift key just to see if there's an object that you can interact with.

Hidden Cache in the old bridge

The first Footfall Hidden Cache in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is also in the Shadow Quarters, just along the eastern portion. You should see a small yard under the ruined bridge. Beyond that is the door to a warehouse (which is part of Jae's quest). Instead of entering the warehouse, just check the rubble next to some barrels and crates to find a secret note.

Hidden Cache in the lantern

The second Footfall Hidden Cache can be found in the Atrium section. You'll want to head to the northeastern corner of the map. There, you'll see several devotees praying at an altar. You can then interact with a niche to obtain the next clue.

Hidden Cache by the dock windows

The third Footfall Hidden Cache is located in a small quay with large windows. That can only be the area that looks like a restaurant in the northern part of Void Dock Alpha-Rho. You'll see a niche that you can interact with as you approach the pillar.

This is the only part of Void Dock Alpha-Rho that looks like a fancy restaurant, so you can't miss it.

Quarantine zone: Hidden Cache in the old tunnel

At this point, your progression in the Dreams and Stories quest in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader is temporarily halted. That's because the quarantine zone in the Shadow Quarters is still inaccessible. Here's what we did:

  • We returned to Vladaym Tocara the Liege (Footfall's governor) and talked to him about sending help to those in the quarantine zone. But we can't confirm if this has any bearing whatsoever.
  • We completed the main tasks in Footfall, then traveled to Janus, the next planet that has a main quest.
  • After completing the main objective on Janus, that's when we noticed that the area was no longer quarantined.

Once you gain access to the location, make your way to the eastern portion. You should find a tunnel that requires the Demolition skill and a Melta Charge just so the rubble could be cleared. This lets you pick up the next Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Footfall Hidden Cache.

The statue of Footfall's founder: The cogitator and rewards

Finally, the secret note tells you about a keyword--"realizing design"--as well as a new point of interest: the statue of Footfall's founder. Make your way to Footfall Atrium and go to the south. You should see a towering statue near where Hieronymous Doloroso is preaching.

Off to the side, you'll notice a cogitator that can be activated. Save beforehand in case you fail the skill check. If you do succeed, choose the option that lets you key in the following: "Realizing design."

You can interact with the cogitator next to the large statue in Footfall Atrium.

The cogitator will be unlocked, and you'll find a couple of goodies stashed therein:

  • Focus Incense - +10 Perception with each use of Revel in Slaughter; stacks until the end of combat
  • Righteous Fury Cape - +5% critical hit chance for each kill made by the wearer; stacks until the end of combat

As you can see, both of these items are exceptionally great for a Soldier character like Sister Argenta. The cloak is also good for snipers like Yrliet and Pasqal, provided they can eliminate multiple enemies in battle.

In any case, that does it for our Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Footfall Hidden Caches guide. While you're out and about exploring this planet, you might also want to know how to solve the Footfall Docks Puzzle.
