As important as the human and alien characters in Star Wars are, the series has been the story of droids as much as anyone else. The first movie kicked off with R2-D2 and C-3PO escaping from the Empire, and they have appeared in every film to date. BB-8 is the main robot star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and ahead of its release this week, a new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released, all about the diminutive droid. Watch it right here:

Another new addition to the Star Wars universe is Oscar Isaac, who plays X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron. In an interview with GQ, Isaac described the insecurities he felt when first taking on the role. "JJ [Abrams, the director] basically told me it was an intense, heroic, dramatic character and he hadn't seen me do that," Isaac said. "I didn't know if I could make it interesting. I didn't know why me and not anybody else."

"I actually felt the most green and insecure that I had in a long time," he admitted. "I was like, 'What am I doing here?' There was not a lot of room to shade in the character. Every time I tried to do that, it would slow things down too much. JJ would be like, 'Get on with it, man!' Just, 'Louder! Faster!' And then I would feel like I was doing that all the time.

"It felt weird and like I was not being creative. I would get nervous I wasn't finding enough or I was missing an opportunity."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18, 2015. It stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill.
