Nintendo is certainly taking an interesting tack in promoting the launch of the DSi XL. Less than a week before it released the supersized DSi in North America, Nintendo announced its successor--the glasses-free, 3D-capable 3DS--would arrive next year. Now, with the DSi XL on store shelves for two weeks, Nintendo has announced a bundle…for its direct predecessor, the DSi.

Beginning April 25, a new Nintendo DSi bundle will be available at select US retailers. The package will be offered at the DSi's standard $170 price point and contain a white system, as well as a copy of Nintendo's action role-playing game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

Released for the DS stateside in September, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story was given high marks by critics, who cited its compelling storyline and varied gameplay. The RPG follows Nintendo's famous pair of plumbers on a journey through the innards of their archenemy, Bowser.

The DSi debuted in North America last April. It is 12 percent thinner than the DS Lite, with screens 17 percent larger than those of its predecessor. Though it doesn't have a Game Boy Advance slot, it boasts two cameras--a 0.3 megapixel one facing outward and a lower-resolution one for self-portraits--and an SD card slot for multimedia storage. The system is also available in blue, black, and pink in standard retail configurations.
