One of the best games I've played in a while, Gamespot got it completely right.
That's kind of the name of the game here, you can do whatever you want. And not in the Peter Molyneux way, or that your choices affect the MORALS of the game. It's that you can play whatever style you want. Pure melee, pure range, mixed up, the way your weapons work, what kind of buffs they have, the difficulty of the enemies as it relates to your progress... it's all presented in a way that is perfectly understandable too. To try to explain it all makes it sound complicated, but the pacing of the game is spot-on. Levels don't wear out their welcome, and yet never feel too short. Right when you're wanting something new, Bastion delivers.
The story is delivered in a very methodical way through the voice of "The Stranger". It's pretty neat, his voice is alright. I kind of wish they had gone all the way with the vaguely southern mannerisms he speaks with, but the whole game has it's own sense of style, so that's dismissible as a stylistic choice. The way he delivers information is pretty surprising, because he says things that are really specific to the choices you make. Choices you don't even think you made he'll point out to you. Prettttyyyyy raaaadddd...
So yeah. Great game, don't even think about it, just buy it. Peace!
