A decent campaign, a great multiplayer, and meaningful destruction creates a very unique and fun first person shooter!

User Rating: 8.5 | Battlefield: Bad Company X360
As a band of misfits in the military, the 222nd Army Battalion, the B Company, Sergeant Redford, Haggard, Sweetwater and you, Preston Marlowe, are sent to do the dirty work before the cavalry arrives.

You start off the game in a lush, fictional Russian environment. You need to capture points throughout the open world from these Russian forces. The only thing being that these enemy's are very stupid. This and the lack of music when you're fighting, are really the only bad things in the campaign. Hearing the comic relief during the cut scenes definitely enlightens the game environment and creates a funny, satisfying story with a decent, but sort of cliché, ending. Alongside the heart-warming feel of the story and character elements, is a very, very meaningful and well-rounded destruction system. This allows you to play tactically by creating your own cover or just blowing the enemies' stronghold apart. The animations and graphics, coupled with the amazing destruction, shows how unique DICE's Frostbite Engine can make a standard-premised FPS. Moving on to the multiplayer portion, the game's more focused-on mode.

All of the weapons, environments, and destruction are brought over from the single player portion to create an enhanced and in-depth multiplayer. You get to choose from five pre-determined kits, Assault, Demolitions, Recon, Specialist, and Support, all with their unique squad-based roles. These classes, weapons, gadgets, etc. are all balanced with the game's several vehicles, such as armored tanks, helicopters, boats, light tanks, etc., which should be noted as impressive, since this is very hard to pull of in a game. The only problem being is that these dedicated servers provided by EA, leave a lot to be desired. The game suffers from unnecessary lag and a "100 point health system" creates an experience that could be better. There's no regenerative health and the weapons, with clips of fifty, sixty, and one hundred fifty for assault rifles, sub-machine guns, and light machine guns, take almost 80% of that large clip to kill. Mind you, this is balanced, but a 3-4-5 shot kill without having senseless lag, would have been better. These issues are said to have been addressed for Bad Company 2 and should help the series increase it's status in the FPS world.

Overall, this game has a nice, decently rounded campaign, along with a unique and balanced multiplayer portion that will most likely please most FPS users. If you like destruction, intense warfare, and comedic characters, this package is a definite FPS fan-pleaser.
