Even though I've only played a handful of download video games on the Nintendo Switch, I have become fully aware that there are a LOT of download video games available on the system! With so many to choose from, it takes a LOT for a download video game to stand out in a crowded market like this! Thankfully, Cat Quest does a good job at creating and establishing a brand new adventure all on its own. Playing as an anthropomorphic cat, who's descended from a warrior line called the Dragon Blood, you are set on a quest to seemingly rescue your sister from the clutches of an evil Dragon Blood Warrior known as Mauth. Of course, the quest won't be that easy! While you can THEORETICALLY beat the game at level 1, or even beat the game without any armor (unlocking a New Game Plus even ADDS these options to FORCE yourself to do one or more of these intense options), it is FAR easier to level yourself up by beating a TON of unique enemy designs, exploring dungeons and getting treasures, getting gold, finding magic spells, and upgrading your magic skills by paying gold. The more gold you spend, the better the magic power will get, up to a skill level of 10! You can also get body armor, helmets, and weapons. And if you HAPPEN to get a duplicate of an item, it will actually RAISE the power and defensive level of the item up; up to a maximum level of 99! Although the main quest is simple, you just got to defeat the three big dragons that Mauth sends out to ravage the lands, there are also a bunch of side quests you can go on, which helps earn you a bunch of experience points, gold, and some unique armor and/or weapons! The graphics are REALLY great looking, the music and sound is good, and the controls feel really great to! And the conversations within the game, tend to lean a LOT on the fourth wall, and are really humorous to! Best of all, the game leaves the door open for a sequel! While I haven't played the sequel (as of the time I originally wrote this review), this is a really unique video game that I highly recommend playing, than by unlocking New Game Plus, you can challenge yourself by fighting against TOUGHER monsters and bosses if you feel confident about you own skill! Enough said, true believers!
