After Rareware stopped making brand new versions of the "Donkey Kong Country" video games in 2005, there was one big question on the minds of many people: Could Nintendo POSSIBLY make a "Donkey Kong Country" based video game WITHOUT Rareware? In 2010, they came with the resounding answer that YES, THEY COULD!!!! After spending many years involved in spin-off projects and party-based games, Donkey and Diddy Kong finally get back to the basics of what made the "Donkey Kong Country" video games entertaining to play in the first place! And this game doesn't disappoint! The graphics are SUPER beautiful, the music is crisp and diverse, the controls (in particular, the horizontal Wii Remote Control set-up), is very intuitive, and easy to learn, but much more challenging to master! This game has nine worlds, and many stages, filled with enemies, traps, secret areas, and items to collect within each stage! Although the main enemy is different from the past "Donkey Kong Country" games, the main objective is the same as the first game. Donkey Kong's Banana Horde has been stolen; this time, by a brand new batch of enemies called the Tikis! And if that wasn't bad enough, they're brainwashing Donkey Kong's animal friends into helping them do their dirty work! The stages are definitely all well designed, but even so, this game will NOT make it easy for you to beat all the challenges that you have to face! As a matter of fact, THIS video game actually MAKES the challenges in the ORIGINAL "Donkey Kong Country", seem downright EASY by comparison! I'm actually NOT exaggerating, when I say that they HONESTLY could've called this game, "Donkey Kong Country: the MANY STUPID DEATHS of YOU;" because you will CONSTANTLY die in this game! While it's certainly not difficult to max out to 99 balloons, and be able to buy an extra health point to help you in most of the stages, it's still going to be quite challenging to find every single secret bonus area, and every single puzzle piece, hidden within this game. But finding each puzzle piece is possible, especially with some much needed help from Squawks, and it is definitely worth it, to prove the mark of a TRUE video game expert! If you really want to challenge yourself with an entertaining video game FILLED with obstacles, this game is one you should DEFINITELY give a try! Enough said, true believers!
