I've played a LOT of games in my lifetime (26+ years) from the old ZX81 (Appropriate seeing as how, graphically, it's similar to titles from that generation) to the latest bells and whistles dull as nails brown and grey "realistic shooters" (Which I'm absolutely sick of). While my favourite game of all time would be the original Half Life, one indie game has been a serious contender for that title for the past 4 years. Ladies and Gentlemen, Dwarf Fortress! A game so insane in concept and execution that it defies all odds. Ignore people saying this is an RTS or management game, as while it does play like those genres it is more accurately described as a "Fantasy World Simulator".
Of course graphically, it's all in ASCII, it's not up to much, but with the amount of detail and fun to be found even in those simple graphics, it's mind-blowing. So ignore the kiddies who state "Lul, graficz suck!11!1" and immerse yourself in this incredibly hard to pick up, but great fun to master, indie Gem.
