A classic arcade beat em up game.
The gameplay involves beating the crap out of massive numbers of enemies from a Gang who'll keep attacking you once they see you.You could use objects such as metal pipes,knives,swords as weapons or just use your fists and martial arts skills to fight off the enemies.The 3 characters you can select from are Haggar(a big muscular guy who uses powerful punches and wrestling moves),as well as Cody and Guy who uses martial arts fighting styles and are more Agile.Cody is slightly stronger,but Guy is faster.This game is one of the games that made the beat em up genre popular and the reason beating the crap out of countless enemies was so satisfying was because of the weapons you can use,the variety of enemies you'll face(such as the typical weaker enemies that try to surround you,as well as female enemies that jump through the air and try to attack you from awkward angles,enemies that throw knives,big fat guys that do bull charges at you,and big guys that just try to pound you with their sheer strength.
The story in the game is about how how Metro City has been terrorized by a gang known as the 'Mad Gear' gang and they've kidnapped the mayor's(Haggar's)daughter,and Haggar,Cody(the mayor's daughter's boyfriend)and Guy(a friend of Cody and the mayor's daughter)go to rescue Haggar's daughter as well as try to put an end to the mad gear gang once and for all.
Some of the boss fights are enjoyable,and maybe you'll recognise Sodom(a samurai who's also in the Street Fighter Alpha games),Hugo(from SF3),Rolento(SF Alpha)will appear as bosses(as well as other boss characters).
The graphics were good for their time,you saw detail such as grafitti everywhere,and you'll travel through subways and trains and you'll see places with lots of parked motorbikes and when you get close to the Mad gear headquaters,you'll enter some tall,posh buildings.
I like how the game is presentated to you.You'll see an emergency news report where Mad Gear claimed responsibility for kidnapping Haggar's daughter(Jessica)and you see how Haggar decides to stop doing his role as mayor because he has a personal vandetta against Mad Gear now,and Cody is angry when he discovers what happened to Jessica and Guy is concerned and you see Jessica tied up and in underwear in a graphic scene when she's held hostage by mad gear.
The music suited the story scenes well(even for the emotional scenes),and I like how one of the bosses will whistle when he calls for reinforcements and the trains sound like they're really moving when you're on them.
Final Fight provided me with lots of enjoyment at arcades and on home consoles.
