"Error uploading images: Image is too large."

Got this message trying to upload an image today, even though the image itself is only 600 x 125 and 115kb in size.

What's going on?

Did a little more testing. I was able to upload an image at last. Unfortunately, it was 80 x 80. Basically, for some reason, it will only allow me to upload avatars.

So the question remains: what the Hell is going on? FFS, just let me link to an Imgur URL like many other forums does instead at this rate.

Edit: and now it won't let me upload an 80 x 80 image either. F***'s sake. If I sound pissed right now it's because I remember a time when this forum let me just insert an image using an [img] function to link to a third party image host. When it changed to forcing everyone to upload on site, I knew it was a bad idea. I rolled with it, however, as long as the bugs were minor and merely annoying; problems editing/deleting images here, issue uploading a GIF there, problem with internal lossy compression making my image look like crap over there. But I knew from the start that one day the whole thing was going to crap out completely and make me miss having the option of a third party image host. This post has been years in the making.

Sorry. Just had to vent. I'm calmer now.

Having this issue now as well. Can't upload anything.

@girlusocrazy: This is obviously some error on their servers that happens periodically. I have uploaded full quality 4K screenshots in the past without issues. Was also not having issues a few days ago.

I'd tried to upload a 1.7mb and a 2.12mb jpg and both failed.

I just need a little info on this. Are you all trying to upload a pic into your sigs by any chance?

Why is the image upload limit 3mb?
