I certainly did not. I had to choose "Yes" in the "Allow PMs and wall posts from users you don't follow" option, from "No". I did not change it to "No". Quickly creeping into other users profiles from the homepage, I see that I cannot message them so it seems everyone is affected by this. We cannot send or receive PMs from people we are not following? I will follow people if they are following me, out of courtesy, but I am not going to treat this place like Facebook. Are you purposely making it more difficult for users to communicate with each other? Is this some sort of way to deal with spam? A bug? What is going on?

@SOedipus: Thank you for reporting this. Let me find out if there were any changes done to the PMs settings. I know that in the last month or so spammers have been creating accounts only to spam our members with porn links, so it is possible that there was a change in the system. I'll find out and let you know. Thank again for bring this up.

@SOedipus: Hey there, I found out that this change took place on 7/22. The reason it was implemented is because of spam mitigation reasons, not to piss anyone off or trying to make it difficult for our members to communicate with each other. It was a necessary change as the PM spam was getting out of hand. Hopefully this clears things up and you understand why it was implemented. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

Be safe,

-Lee

@leek: It’s a little disappointing but it is what it is. Thanks for clarifying and getting back to me.

@SOedipus: Sorry man, I appreciate your understanding. Spammers spoil it for everyone.
