UK should be scared! :/

“If a deal like this can’t get through, they are not going to be Silicon Valley, they will be Death Valley,” Kotick told CNBC in a televised interview on Tuesday, the same day as UK prime minister Rishi Sunak announced the creation of a new standalone government department for science, innovation and technology.

Yes, let's listen to Bobby now. He has always had gamers' best interest at heart.

I trust what he says because he doesn't make any money at all with this deal.

People have been saying the same shit about Silicon Valley, and California in general, for decades.

Bobby's area of expertise is in milking franchises to death. I wouldn't go to him for advice on much anything else.

he is comparing Silicon Valley with Death Valley.

SV has industries and is a financial centre whereas DV is pretty much a wasteland in every way. Using metaphorical language he is saying that the UK can either be prosperous like SV by approving deal like this or a wasteland like DV by not approving (I am not saying approving or not approving with affect their prosperity, I am just interpreting what Kotick said)

What would that even mean? If everyone but UK approved it would MS just be prohibited from publishing game in UK but still be able to sell its other goods and services just not COD? Hmm, maybe.

I am pretty sure MS wouldn't thumb its nose at the deal if they had to pull out of UK entirely, no Windows PCs and no Azure service for UK companies or Office software for UK businesses. Then again if the UK had to order their PCs from China with custom Linux OS ridden with Chinese spyware or pay up the ass for Apple PCs, I don't think MS would make that happen either.

He's 100% correct and why this deal is going to pass, the UK economy is in the toilet and UK Chancellor has stated that they want the UK to be THE tech hub of Europe

Not going to happen if companies are going to avoid investing because you have fringe regulators

The CMA actually do their job and look at the facts, unlike the FTC which is ran by a big nosed lunatic who has no experience or qualifications and was hired solely because she's a minority woman and activist.

I'd like to think Bobby knows the latest Sony subpoena is about to blow up the hold up that regulators are putting on the acquisition so maybe he's talking bold knowing there's something that's going to come out in coming days as Sony's deadline is coming up soon.

The outcome of the Microsoft/Activision merger is uncertain and it remains to be seen what the future holds for both companies. If the deal is not successful, it could have negative consequences for both companies and their respective stakeholders. However, it's important to note that the success or failure of a single deal is not necessarily indicative of a company's overall health and future prospects.

I'd be happy if kids and low income young male adults (who are criminals) weren't playing Call Of Duty.

LOL. Does this shameless idiot think he is some kind of emissary of the Roman Empire who can intimidate a subordinate state into doing his bidding?

Look in the mirror, you are nothing but a scumbag who represented the shitty company that caused the worst sexual harassment and discrimination scandal in the gaming industry and tried to make money by selling it, whose market value was greatly reduced by it, to MS to secure your golden parachute.

Now, I get what your're saying. We really shouldn't listen to what Bobby Kotick has to say. But I don't think Microsoft's purchase of Activision really benefits gamers. If anything, this deal benefits only Xbox fanboys to have additional ammunition when comparing quantity of exclusives. But as an industry, I don't think a bigger monopoly by Microsoft is a good thing. Microsoft doesn't even have a good track record of nurturing their studios well. Just look at Halo.
