I just finished it, and it looks like it's a hit. I actually liked it too even if it looks over the top. Just feels really rushed because it's only 10 episodes. Definitely launched better than the game lol
Anyone else watched it yet?

Couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Maybe it might inspire me to commit to trying to put more time into the game.
Honestly I'd say that it's the first genuinely good thing Trigger Studio has put out in a long time besides Star Wars: Vision segments. (Minus Darling in the Franxx) I watch a few episodes already, it really feels like it takes place in Cyberpunk 2077 game world. All the little hacking UIs, weapons and vehicles are straight from the game which I'm surprised Trigger did their homework staying true to the game 2077. This series captured all the good concepts of 2077 that the game really failed to showcase with it's gameplay. Cyberware enhancing agility, strength, the Monowire ect. whereas in the game the Cyberware you get doesn't feel too significant gameplay-wise or aesthetically pleasing. That is, unless you mod it on PC that is.
@davillain: tbf, the show wouldn't look like it is without the game. Both the series and the game has limitations, but shows will always have the edge of being more entertaining because of how easily directable they are.
Watched the first three episodes and enjoyed it very much. Studio Trigger's over-the-top visuals and animation are quite effective and make the cyberpunk world fun and exciting. It makes sense that it's getting better reviews than the original game, haha.
I predicted it would turn out good a couple months ago:
Cyberpunk 2077 gets Netflix anime from Studio Trigger (Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill, Promare)
Studio Trigger is one of the best anime studios in the business (Gurren Lagann is still my GOAT anime). It also feels like a throwback to Akira (which was one of the inspirations behind the Cyberpunk 2077 game). Maybe this could be the start of a redemption arc for the Cyberpunk 2077 universe?

The best Studio Trigger anime I've seen in recent years is Promare. If you haven't already, you should check it out. It feels like a throwback to their magnum opus Gurren Lagann... the Promare protagonist is a spitting image of Kamina.
@Jag85: Now I want Trigger to actually just retain this anime/series solo... maybe do more stories other than Lucy and David's, since Cyberpunk is based on a tabletop RPG anyway. I feel like they can do justice to like the corporate wars, or even doing prequels for Solos like Morgan Blackhand.
Meh. a show about a mediocre game that happened to be one of the worst games ever made. No thanks lol.
Should make an anime about a good game, like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Sekiro, Bloodborne...

More entertaining? I have to disagree with you on that. Sometimes the games do it better.

Oh, I didn't know this thread was about the TLOU show. My bad.
I'm gonna check this out then I'll probably play the game. Hopefully it's not as bad as people say it is. I still have faith in CD Project RED.

...That anime that already exists. It's called Berserk.
@pclover1980: No, this thread wasn't about one of the greatest games of all time, so we weren't talking about The Last of Us.
We were wondering why they made an anime of biggest failure in gaming history, which is a garbage and clunky game that no one enjoyed.
but since you brought up the best ever made (The Last of Us), I bet that show will suck anyway.

Your biggest failure just overtook elden ring lol
Mediocre Games seem to make for excellent Anime.
First Arcane, and now this.
They should make something out of Metroid Dread tbh.
@pclover1980: Ohh noo popularity numbers. I guess Fortnite and Chinese mobile games are better than Zelda:BOTW?
Elden Ring is one of the top 5 games of the century. Cyberjunk is one of the top 5 flops of the century.
Elden Ring highest rated game on open critic, 96 Metacritic masterpiece.
I saw it and was thinking about giving it a shot. I have a few other shows I need to finish first before starting this one, but it appears to be pretty good from what a friend told me.
i liked the first 4 - 5 ep...than it felt very rushed and it was hard to understand who against who and why. (also, i didnt play the game.)
The show is fan service for people who are familiar with the game and to a lesser extent, the TTRPG. The show borrows heavily from the themes and concepts from both and the visual and audio design of the former and doesn't do a lot to explain the world for people unfamiliar with the source. That said, it's fun and energetic and one of the better tie in pieces of media I've seen for a video game.
