FF7 Rebirth UK Boxed Sales down 89% week over week....

Hey System Wars.... What do you make of info like this? Physical media is only for enthusiasts? FF7 is dead or won't have legs?

How long before square turns to other platforms?

I wouldn't call physical media irrelevant. Personally still buy every one of my console games on physical media to the point of importing them (Ace attorney series).

Id be interested to see the digital sales. Most people on this board cry about all-digital future and the buy digital lol.

Played it through youtube. Its a damn Ubisoft title with Tifa in it. Eww.

The folks who cry about digital on this forum typically don't buy digital or buy digital at all.

On the issue with FFVII. I am not sure what this equates to. The game being locked to one platform does do it any favor but that was SquareEnix's choice.🤷🏽‍♂️

Much ado about nothing would be my take. It's the type of game that will have strong day 1 sales and quickly fall off. The usual SP game sales pattern on consoles.

Whether it's a success or not, we won't know until we get some sort of total sales number.

However this is SW sooo.....It's a flop!! PS is doomed!!! Sony may as well pack it in now.

In this case it wouldn't be a Sony is doomed but SquareEnix is Doomed.😂

No way internet person. Everyone knows the only thing propping up PS is a remake of a 20 year old game. With FF7 flopping (which has now been established as ABSOLUTE FACT!!) the PS5 is going to crash and burn.

Square will survive on their Switch game sales...just about. But PS5 is going down!

Sad to admit but physical sales aren't what they use to be and are largely irrelevant in determining how well a game is doing.

That PC port gonna be coming quick.

More PS4s existed when FF7R part 1 released vs part 2 stuck on PS5.

Square took money from sony to keep It only on PS5, hopefully Sonys payout was worth it.

We would need to know the digital performance to draw a conclusion.

What impact would that have on physical UK sales?

These types of games generally don't have legs anyway. The games that launch hot and stay hot for a bit are generally multiplayer titles, not these bigger budget single player games. But we can't draw a conclusion while missing 70%+ of the sales data

People will use digital sales as an excuse for disgusting failure.

The truth is, they played the first one, it wasn't that good. The trick didn't work second time, not even parading around anime girl titties helped.

It's pretty obvious it's had a weak release, SE loves announcing 1st week sales when games sold well, see FF15, FF7 Remake, and FF16.

That's possible. But again, we see FF7 Rebirth top the Japan sales chart, we don't have the majority of UK sales data (missing digital) and have yet to hear anything US related. But I think HellDivers 2 really caught some folks off guard. That game likely cut into FF7 interest.

Sold significantly less than FF16 and less than half of what FF7 Remake sold in Japan for release sales.

Interesting that now physical sales don't matter. I wonder what changed? Because digital has been dominating for years.

@TheEroica: Well, the first episode sold 3.5 million copies in 3 days because Square was screaming it from the rooftops, and there's hasn't been a peep (not that i've seen) from them about the sales of this game, so i'd say sales of both Physical & digital are down.

That's a more interesting/relevant story here.

And PC. But not enough to remove it entirely from it from PC.

We can only make a judgement when the digital sales are confirmed. Physical in the UK, and in most countries only account for a small % of games sales and most charts are redundant - they are especially redundant with the GamePass model.

It would be a shame if the sales are not as strong because this a genuinely good game. Shouldn't be tied to one console and you know that some of the people knocking it would not be knocking it if it was exclusive to their console.
