Back in the day I got the Foxhound ranking in MGS4. You get that for beating the game under 5 hours among other things. Even ex-System Wars member Conan would’ve been proud. Other than that, I think I remember beating Resident Evil Remake in 3 hours or something like that. But that was after beating the game initially and unlocking stuff. How about you, SW? Have you ever done a speed run of a game?

I am not that skilled of a gamer to do speed runs, but I am quite impressed of speed runners who post videos of their feats on Youtube. The most impressive speed runs I have seen are from Super Mario games.

Can't say I have. I have beaten a few games under a certain time to get an achievement, but I don't call that a speed run.

Yes, but i don't enjoy them at all, and haven't done any in over 10y. Give me highest difficulty possible, and when i am done with that, i'll be all over the game's pvp if there's no mtx. I find that spending time memorizing everything in the level for a speedrun is kind of a waste of time, and that time i much better spent in the multiplayer if there is one.

Never tried Foxhound in MGS4, but I did it once in 3 and found the requirements generous. How the hell do you lose ten life bars worth of damage or take more than five hours? There aren't that many areas. I didn't come anywhere close to those 80 minute playthroughs all over YouTube, though. I wouldn't dare attempt a true speed-run. Would mean I'd have to abuse the Mk22 suppressors.

No, I think that would ruin a game for me. But a few times I did pass the controller back and forth with friends to see who gets the best time on like Sonic CD or other games that have a time trial feature, just for funsies.

Yeah, for short games, usually achievement related. Only a small number of times.

Yeah. Did a number of NES and SNES games back in the day. Also did some of the Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid games. Don’t do it too much these days though.

It's not necessarily a speedrun, but last year I went through 40k Kill Team on PS3 and got first place on all (at least the ones that weren't hacked/glitched) the different single player leaderboards. Getting some of them was maddening, but the successes were amazing!

Yep. For JRPG with NG+ platinum requirements I always do it most recent was Trails of Cold Steel I speed through it like 4 times in 4 days for a platinum. About a year ago, RE2R in under 2 hour hard mode no inventory no restart for a platinum trophy. I didn't get the plat for RE2R unfortunately somehow the clickers in the underground lab glitched and attacked me even though I moved extremely slow. Fk I still felt frustrated by that.

Nay. I've tried to be quicker when I replay some games, but never timed anything.

This. I don't see the point in 100%'ing games, nor do I see the point in speed runs.

I will skip certain sections of a game because I know in throughout, but I just play to have fun.

Sort of. yes.

My 5th run of Sekiro the game was a breeze. I beat every single boss first try and didn't have a single death. In stark contrast with my first run that took me 85 hours, this run only took me 5 hours. Does that count as a speed run?

MGS4 - my all time favourite game I have beaten this (no joke) like 50 times. Out of those 50 I'm sure a handful of them were sub-5 hours. I suppose it counts?

Resident Evil 4 - I did sub 5 hour and sub 4 hours runs to get the trophies. I beat the game 7 times. Still don't have the platinum as I am missing two more speed runs (The two NG speedrun trophies).

Other than that... no.

Yup, Halo CE many times. There's just so many shortcuts, not cheating it's just knowing them through experience. trial and error and one of the things that made the game so special.

Do it your way!! lol :P

No. I like to relax and play games instead of doing speed runs.

However I love seeing salty gamers raging at their failed speed runs

Yes, original Mirror’s Edge. Speedeun without exploits. I’m not exactly world class 😅🥹(very far from), but it still is an amazing feeling to speedrun that game in one session.

It is a very short game and its about running, so I guess it makes sense!

Yes. Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3.

Don't speedrun those myself, but I know they require some real precise platforming, and frame perfect excutions, I think you can only lose or gain time in incriments of 21 frames, or what's called a frame-rule.

My first speed run was of MGS on PS1. If I remember right I would finish it in 2 to 3 hours skipping all cut scenes. I did speed runs of other MGS games but they were not as fun to do. I think I did some resident evil as well just from boredom. Generally I don't like speed runs because I like to explore a video game and take my time with them.

No. It is not fun. It is like playing a game in a way it wasn't intended to be played.

I've done several speedruns of Hades, but nothing that would really be considered competative. It was fun to work on though.

No. I have done speedruns of various levels in sonic the hedgehog games though.
