Manor Lords seems to be a breakthrough hit on Steam reaching numbers that even trump Helldivers 2 and Fallout 76 (respectively Sony and Microsofts best game so far).

What's even better is that you don't have to pay any of your hard earned money to play it, it's free on Gamepass right now.

Any of you playing this game?

Interesting. Might check it out but currently I’m into Elyuden Chronicles and Star Wars Jedi Survivor which just hit Game Pass yesterday.

@Archangel3371: the stances are really cool too. I ended up loving a stance I thought I'd hate. And hating a stance I thought I'd love.

I saw gameplay of it and as well from Angry Joe, its not my cup of tea. Glad to see Manor Lords is having a nice launch.

What I always wanted, to build a medieval society from the mud up.

@davillain: I'd say it's like a cross between anno (city builder) and total war style battles. Is that a correct assessment?

@lamprey263: one of my favourite games ever - the first Age of Empires - has you go from cavemen all the way to the iron age. I love that style of game.

This is one of the things that makes Rimworld with Hardcore SK so satisfying.

On a tribal start, you start with bows, clubs and spears. Eventually working yourself up to plasma weaponry. With gradual developments to agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, warfare, religion, terraforming and more.

Seems like a great game based on the few hours I've spent with it, but I must be pretty terrible at it because by the time the first brigands come around they end up burning down my whole village I just spent an hour or two building up.

The resource aspect I get but raising a militia was kind of difficult and when your militia only has a power of 20 but two sets of brigands both with 30+ power come at you

I need to revisit Rimworld. I didn't quite understand how to play it initially but by all accounts it seems like a game I should enjoy.

Any tips for playing? I tend to like a more relaxing experience, maybe that's my issue.

Yeah, same. I tend to like faster or more defensive stances, but I found myself really liking the slow, big-swinging stance (forgot the name) and not liking the fast dual-wield or saber-staff stances all that much.

I got it, but it's early access so I'll wait to try it. Right now I'm playing some other games, so I don't have any issue waiting.

Edit: n/m got it confused with a different game

@mrbojangles25: Phoebe Chillax is the storyteller you should use if you prefer a more relaxed experience. Will keep invasions and other violent incidents at a minimum.

Turrets and killboxes are also nice so that when they do happen, they are over pretty fast.

@girlusocrazy: Me too. I put my early access games on steam into a certain category (called Early Access) and I check back occasionally to see if they have made any progress.

The games I actually played in early access can be counted on one hand.

Judging from the reviews seems like it's a bit too rough right now. But it definitely looks interesting.

@R4gn4r0k: For some reason I thought this thread was about the game being given away for free on Epic Game Store but looking at it again it dawned on me it wasn't mentioned at all in this thread.

I guess I got it confused with another game I claimed.

I wonder why they put it on GP if it wasn't finished, and if it will still be on Game Pass by the time it is out of Early Access?

To me it's crazy that Epic is still giving away free games every week after all these years, even AAA games.

It's noteworthy.

@R4gn4r0k: Yeah, thanks Epic. There are a lot of repeats but I can't complain.

That’s why I do only the building aspect. I can barely get my village past like 10-20 in the first year, much less can even think about an army. It’s difficult to even get the most basic of an economy going.

I also used up all my start cash, so no trading post/routes that I can establish and I don’t know how to make more $$$.
