I've passed by the first game many times while browsing PSN, always thinking about buying it. Maybe I'll pull the trigger on both games. Like you said, it's janky...But Ive had the most fun with janky games.

Man, the original game felt like it was made in the wrong decade. It was basically an open world action game before open world action games were popular. Being released in the 90s, everyone just tilted their heads and went "wuh?" Being released now, and it's just dime a dozen in a crowded market. I feel like its true moment would have been in the late 2000s, when it might have been remembered alongside Assassin's Creed and Far Cry as a pioneer of the genre.

But now? Eh.

Nice to see someone making a thread on this. I wasn't sure about the gameplay at first.

But if Banishers has thought me anything it's that AA games have so much more lasting power and fun factor than AAAA games.

Half the A's half the trouble is what I say.

Well, I only started saying it today but I hope it catches on.

Ain't that the truth. Overspending is what's really the problem for most AAA games.

To the topic at hand. I didn't know this exist at all. But it does look fun to me and so with that, this is going to my Wishlist for sure!

It stands proudly near my pc, and shows off its superiotity. I've also spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on it, Elden Ring alone almost 900h, so its not like it hasn't seen any use.

Woh, wait? The game is out this weekend?

SWEET!

Loved the original. I'm not one for nostalgia but it definitely seemed like part of this "golden era" of gaming.

Adore? I'm with Davillain, not buying that! Lol... I think there's a part of you that looks at it like it's flaccid and has no pep and zing... Be honest.... Keep in mind that mods can read your thoughts.

Ive taken a punt at it. My initial impressions at the reveal ages ago were not good but more recent vids have been more impressive.

Loved the first. Basically the gaming industries Stargate SG1 :P. Quite ground breaking in many ways at the time too. But buggy as all hell. Just getting it installed was a nightmare. At one point I think i also broke the main storyline in the game. I couldn't seem to progress anymore. Still....jaw dropping in 1999. Amazing soundtrack too.

It looks like they have at least tried to keep the humour and tone of the first one too which is good.

The one nitpick i have is the new Cutter Slade model looks nothing like the original. The devs tries to explain it away as he has aged but....he doen't look like an older Cutter Slade. He looks like a completely different person.

On a side note: Why don't we have a good Stargate SG1 Video game? Hey MS...your licensing TV and movie IP for games....do a thing maybe?

@Pedro: we need to go back to Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, Crash type characters or else every discussion ever is just gonna about the appearances of human beings.

@Pedro: He has to make sure every thread is about him. That's why I almost never come here anymore. Always the same tired jokes and the need for attention.

I hope the game ends up coming to gamepass.

A few issues I've noticed but apart from that I'm definitely interested in continuing my journey on Adelpha:

  • Cutscenes are hard locked to 30fps, but this should be an easy fix as it's not an engine issue
  • DLSS only works in DX11, but DX12 seems to provide better performance.

This was fixed through a mod today.

I didn't realize that the cutscene were running at a lower FPS.🤷🏽‍♂️

So, in this scenario DLSS is worse?

@Pedro: ok so what happens in DX12 is that the moment you activate DLSS some other type of upsampling kicks in. I'd wager it's TAAU.

It just looks blurry and doesn't really scale (in the way that DLSS does: Quality, balanced, performance).

As for the cutscenes. I'm usually not brothered by it but someone mentioned it and yeah as it's a quick fix I decided to wait for it

Really fun game otherwise, just like Avatar I just find fun in exploring weird alien planets. it's a nice concept.

Yeah I am enjoying it.

A bit heavy with the cinematics, but I like the story; reminds me of a corny sci-fi movie from the 80's or 90's. Characters are fun. They skirt the line between corny, wholesome, and serious quite well without tipping too heavy into either territory and going into full camp.

Only a few hours into it but I really love the gameplay. And the quest design is great; every mission feels meaningful, not like a tacked on side quest.
