I beat Stellar Blade! Thought it was pretty good. The combat was “stellar”, while the side quests and semi-open world were meh. But the main campaign was well done, although the characters and story weren’t as interesting as Nier Automata. The enemy design was hit or miss too. But I can imagine the second game being amazing if they want to make another one. I’ll go with 8.5/10! Really well polished game, fun gameplay, and the music was great too.

And before that, I beat FF7 Rebirth. Both FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth are incredible games, and I enjoyed them for different reasons. Rebirth was massive; I couldn’t believe Square Enix put so much effort into just about everything into this game. But the real star of the show are the characters, the story, and the combat system. That was amazing, and I can’t wait for the next game. 9.5/10! Oh, and I put 150 hours into the game, which is super rare for me. I don’t remember the last time I did that.

How about you, SW? What was the last game you beat and what would you rate it?

FF7 Rebirth. Would honestly give it a solid 8, even though the ending was just a mess. I started a NG+, but have been far too busy to actually sit down and play it again.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on the XSX. Quite enjoyed it. Could have used more enemy variety but the combat kind of fun and had some neat puzzles to figure out. Pretty nice looking game and some cool sound design. Am really looking forward to playing the sequel which is coming out in the next couple of weeks.

The last game I beat, shit I can't remember because I've been playing a bit of dlc's for games the last little while.

I'll go with Remnant 2 with a 9.7/10.

I beat Ion Fury: Aftershock (DLC) a few days ago. It's pretty cool, retro-like, reminds me of some of the games I played growing up like Doom and Duke Nukem. I probably won't play through it again though. Each level is kind of repetitive and it's not very creative outside of the fact that you are basically just "Doom girl".

That being said it's still better than most games. 8/10.

Fortnite. I had a 12 kill victory the other day.

My performance was a 10/10

On a serious note, I can’t remember the last game I finished. Nothing has really held my attention for any real length of time. And now that it’s nice outside the odds of me sitting down and playing a long game are slim to none.

Tears of the Kingdom, I would give it an 8.5, The story is ridiculous and predictable, the last battles, the ones where you fight ganondorf in his multiple forms are disappointing, but i do like the the world feel alive, i like that the NPCs are trying to ressolve the problems instead of relying on Link for everything although they end up being useless once again.

@Sam3231: It was recently featured in a Humble Bundle. So, you can get keys for super cheap on the key sites.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, I would have got the platinum trophy but the last one I need is bugged. I give that game a 7.5/10, graphics were a bit rough but the tactical gameplay was similar to playing the tabletop game, and the animations were fun to watch. The missions were repetitive after a while, but the game was short enough to beat so it wasn’t tiresome.

Looks like you can get it for a few bucks, not bad. I just have too much to play as is though otherwise I would swoop it up.

Monkey Island 2. Love the vibe of those games, but the overly obtuse puzzles can get old.

Devil May Cry 5; I'd give it a 9/10. The sections where you play as a dude named V were quite innovative. What V does is summon monsters to fight for him, but he has to finish off the monster(s) with his cane in order to kill the enemy. It was refreshing. Playing as Nero and Dante was fun too.

Beat again? Horizon Zero Dawn. Fifth play-through. Objectively 8/10, personally 9/10, as I've always said.

Beat first time? En Garde! Fun, charming, short, sometimes feels more like a proof of concept than a full game. 7/10.

Been a few months since I beat anything... Titanfall 2 I think. I enjoyed it a lot, and still play the multiplayer off and on. Campaign was kinda short but had a lot a variety. That mission where you can instantly jump back and forth between two time periods was a real standout. Good platforming for an FPS, though I wish the wallrun was a bit more limited. Like, you can keep your feet off the ground for a looong time once you get good. In Mirror's Edge, it still feels like you just did some impressive acrobatics, but in Titanfall, walls are just ,like, part of the sidewalk. Probably my only complaint though, and its not even really much if a flaw, just a preference.

9 overall. Great game, deserves a sequel.

dark souls 3 + dlc. 8/10. points docked for being pretty linear until mid game when it really starts to open up and come into it's own. found it difficult to get into dragon's dogma 2 straight after because of the combat difference. dd felt too floaty and simplistic. parked it for another time

So, you would consider both games to be some of the greatest games of all time? I always find it funny when people give games a 10/10. There is a 10 point scale and people don't use it properly.

If I consider a game replayable I consider it very high on my scale yeah.

Both games are near flawless, and since flawless is a myth I consider near flawless a 10/10

What's the issue exactly? Me rating games highly that I enjoy?

The issue is people don't use the scale fully and tend to over rate things. You can enjoy a game a lot and rate it highly by giving it a 7 or 8. When you are looking at rating a game a 9, the game has to be amazing. To give a game a 10.... it means it is truly exceptional and remarkable and is able to stand next to the greatest games ever. So, are either of those games truly worthy of a 10?

Spiderman 2 - 7/10

For me, a 7 is a positive score. I enjoyed the game but there were some ridiculous moments. Unlike most people, I was fine with the MJ sneaking sections in the first game. But for some reason, they made MJ more powerful than either Miles or Peter this go around.

It was fine. I felt like a superhero and web swinging is a blast. But, I wasn't wowed by the game. It was fine.

Batman: Arkam City

Not a BAD game. But designing for such a broad group of players by streamlining the controls and intentionally making the mechanics shallow is, in a way, even worse.

Still collecting footage for my super critique. After ten years, I could not remember how the Riddler quest ends (and needed the footage anyway). So I did it again. I collected all 282 trophies again.

Literally the same thing. Well, Super Mario 64 was not such a big open world that they had to reveal all the secrets on the map for you. Which made the process of getting to the disappointing reward still more rewarding.

Final encounter wasn't even a challenge, since Riddler didn't expect you for once. The world feels dead after the story ends and only quests are left, because all those quests are such an afterthought.

So little effort in all quests but the Riddler trophies. And I still would have rather lost those Riddler trophies for more important things, like a good swim/diving mechanic. So many water-is-lava sections. Even a shark that clumsily bites your raft before never appearing again. Might have entered its domain if water wasn't lava.

Recently finished Another Crab’s Treasure and it was surprisingly very good. A decent Souls like game that wears its inspiration on its sleeve. A cleverly written story with some good humour and a bit of a sobering take here and there. A decent challenge but quite a manageable one. Some technical issues and the occasional bit of frustrating platforming but nothing terribly serious.

Pretty solid 8/10 game. Was pleasantly surprised by it.

The last game I beat was mirrors edge. I did my first play through on steam deck a couple months ago. I was also playing mad max at the time... I deleted it though. It wasnt a bad game but once the loop became clear and the game became repetitive I asked myself whether the extra 20 hours was really gonna be worth it. I declined and moved on.

Oh! Mirrors edge.... 8/10. Really fun. Let me guess, they tried to screw up mirrors edge 2 with combat? Gunplay or something dumb instead of continue to build on the parkour ideas..... Am I right?

@TheEroica: Great Game!

Mirror's Edge 2 was trying to expand on everything, bigger more open sections, objectives, and they kind of messed with Faith's personality and they didn't nail it. It was too complex IMO, they didn't need to have a skill tree in a game that should just be about reflexes and the environment, and they added side missions which doesn't offer much story and that the game doesn't really need. There is some fun item collection though which lets you exercise your skills, but again with the upgrade tree you are sometimes gated and not really free in the open world. You do get a grapple which does open things up a lot, but it's stupid that your character forgets how to wall run after the first game and needs to learn the skill.

The open world also means you have to run around finding missions and the travel in between isn't crafted and directed so it can be boring, and there is also too much combat IMO.

The first is stripped down to the pure fun. Second is not bad though I would still give it a shot if you get it cheap.
