Fallout 4 Piggy Launcher And When Pigs Fly Quest Guide

One of the three new main quests added with the next-generation update in Fallout 4 is called "When Pigs Fly." This quest introduces a new Makeshift Weapons Pack to the Commonwealth, including a Piggy Launcher and a few other unique grenade launchers. The quest itself involves two warring merchants, one of whom stole the blueprints for a pipe grenade launcher from the other. Your job is to retrieve the blueprints for the launcher and protect the merchant who originally designed it. If you fail, that merchant is going to die at the hands of a man using a grenade launcher that shoots Piggy Mines, which has to be an awful way to go.
To see all of the steps in completing When Pigs Fly in Fallout 4, read the guide below.
Your first step in the quest is to visit a merchant workshop owned by a man named Suggs. Suggs has some terrific weapons and ammo to purchase, but when you stop by his workshop, you must check the terminal behind him. The terminal holds key information on where the rival merchant has run off to and taken Suggs' pipe launcher blueprints.
Through the "Weapons Dealer in Monsignor Plaza" terminal entry, you learn that the merchant who stole the blueprints took them to Monsignor Plaza, where they apparently are working out and selling launchers to raiders. There's also a man named Marvin who was supposedly taken by the rival merchant, and Suggs wants to ensure they return safely as well.
Once you're done reading the terminal entry, you can exit the workshop and go to Monsignor Plaza.
Taking over Monsignor Plaza
Arriving at Monsignor Plaza, your first objective is to enter the building and recover the pipe grenade launcher the rival merchant built using Suggs' blueprints. The grenade launcher is located on the top floor of the plaza, and you can head up there using the stairs on the right side of the ground floor. There are several raiders inside, so make sure you're dealing with them before trying to reach the quest marker.
The pipe grenade launcher is sitting on a counter next to a cash register, and you can pick it up to add it to your inventory. However, there's also a note lying underneath the launcher, which details the thoughts of a man who truly hates Suggs. The note states that Suggs has mocked this person's ideas and taken advantage of their labor, and they despise Suggs as a result. All of this anger will seemingly conclude with the note writer killing Suggs using a new Piggy Launcher.
Your next objective is to return to Suggs' workshop so you can stop that from happening. However, before you go, make sure to loot all of the Piggy Mines in the room with the note, as you'll need those for ammunition later on.
Kill Marvin
In a stunning twist, it turns out that Marvin was the rival weapons dealer after all. He was the one who stole Suggs' blueprints and was never in any danger. You find Marvin on top of a roof across the street from Suggs' workshop and he's wielding the Piggy Launcher he has designed. You can climb up to Marvin's location using the fire escape stairs on the left side of the building, but some additional enemies fight you between there and the roof.
After reaching the roof, eliminate Marvin and avoid his Piggy Mines at all costs. I used the Tesla Cannon I earned from the Best of Three quest in Fallout 4, but any close-range weapon will do the trick. Once Marvin is killed, take the Fat Man from his body, the infamous Piggy Launcher. You can also take the "Grenade Launcher Schematics" from Marvin's body. You can wield the Piggy Launcher immediately, but you want to descend from the roof as quickly as possible, as more enemies have surrounded Suggs in his workshop.
Defend Suggs and complete When Pigs Fly
At Suggs' workshop, kill the two guards that surrounded the merchant. One of them is carrying the Baseball Launcher, which uses modified baseball grenades as ammunition. After the enemies are defeated, return to Suggs and give him the Grenade Launcher Schematics. In return for your services, Suggs rewards you with the Penetrating Chinese Grenade Launcher Rifle, a launcher that uses Frag ammunition. This is a perfected model of the pipe grenade launcher you looted earlier.
With new grenade launchers in your possession, the When Pigs Fly quest is complete in Fallout 4 and you're able to move on to another quest from the next-gen update. I suggest completing Echoes of the Past if you haven't already, as it has some fantastic rewards. You can also view our previous guide that details every new piece of content in the next-gen update.
