User Rating: 8.5 | God of War: Ghost of Sparta PSP
With God of War III being one of the biggest releases for 2010 for the PS3, Santa Monica announced another God of War game planned to be released during 2010. This was God of War: Ghost of Sparta for the PSP which was a surprise for fans of the series and to PSP owners out there. This is also the second God of War game to be released for the handheld console; however you will not find anything new to Ghost of Sparta apart from its story on Krato's past and Childhood.

Story takes places between God of War I and II after Kratos defeated Ares who was the God of War that's if you have played the first game. During the first half of Ghost of Sparta you'll witness the destruction of Atlantis and battling Greek Mytholgy creatures like the Kraken, Scylla and Cyclops. But the real story starts to kick in after playing through the game over an hour where Kratos finds out that his Brother Deimos is still alive and searches for him.

Gameplay: If you've played the God of War series before on the handheld or on a Playstation console, you shouldn't have any problems playing your way through Ghost of Sparta. For those who have played Chains of Olympus which was released back in 2008 most of its gameplay is about the same, from its gameplay to its button mashing during boss fights. There are a few new features to the gameplay on Weapons and magic but most of it feels a similar to the same stuff we've all seen in the past God of War games.

During your progress through Ghost of Sparta you'll be using weapons like Arms of Sparta which is a spear and shield where you can throw your spear at far away enemies and use your shield to defend from attacks and fire. There is also Eye of Atlantis which will be the first Magic abilities you'll obtain which will beam lightning at enemies; there are a few more Magic abilities and weapons which you will obtain later on as your progress through the game.

There is also Thera's Bane which will be your Rage gauge for Ghost of Sparta where you can do some major damage on enemies, if you've played through the series before you may get the idea why maybe using it throughout the game.

Graphics and Sound: With this being the second God of War released for the PSP, it has some of the best graphics and visuals based on Greek Mytholgy but however most of the graphics and environments are pretty stunning and breathe taking. But we've pretty much seen these kinds of stuff before in past God of War games.

However there will be a lot of blood, gore and violence throughout Ghost of Sparta unlike past God of War games there will always be blood and guts added to each game. It also has some of the best visuals and effects so it's really a good thing especially if it's coming out of the handheld console which these days are looking better and better for the PSP.

Voicing does a great touch as well including Krato's angry voicing which will keep fans of the series happy, there's also some great voice acting from other charcters in Ghost of Sparta which I'll not say because that could spoil the plot to the story. The soundtrack does a great feature too keeping you focused during gameplay and how well done the game does as well.

Overall: Fans of the series will really get the most out of Ghost of Sparta but however the game itself may feel a little short beating the game around 4-6 hours pending on whatever difficulty you play the game on. You'll also notice that the Sexy mini-games make a return, along with the Combat Arena with new challenges.
There is also The Temple of Zeus which is the newest feature where you can sacrifice your Red orbs to purchase and unlock Artwork, Costumes and Video Galleries.

If you own a PS3 and a copy of God of War III, you can redeem the code on the game you've purchased and download Deimos and play as Krato's brother Deimos in God of War III. As a fan of the series you're most likely to get the most out of it, but if you haven't played past God of War games you may get a little confused on what's going.
