Masterful

User Rating: 10 | God of War: Ragnarok (Launch Edition) PS5

You know that a game or a movie is amazing when the sequel either lives up or surpasses its predecessor, specially if the first installment was already insanely good.

I have no lack of praise to give this game; it has a smooth and addictive gameplay, very similar to the first yet with some small improvements; breathtaking landscapes backed up by insanely good graphics overall; the area to explore and the map of all the realms is amazing, even though you already explored some of them in the first God of War they managed to still make them interesting and new and of course the fantastic story that introduces us to new characters and develops the existing ones.

Again it's a legitimate masterpiece, no exaggeration at all, it has some of the best character development I've seen in any game, it's filled with underlying messages of parenthood, loss and coming to terms with our mistakes, the motion capture and the actors did an amazing job and overall experience after setting the bar so high with the first game is still absolutely fantastic and Odin as a villain is a believable and realistic take on manipulation.
I guess the only thing I wasn't as excited this time was the amount of some in game customization you have specially the relics and some of the other abilities I felt that the alternatives are just too much as I prefer a more narrowed down set of choices on that regard but that's a purely personal opinion of course.

Games like these 2 recent God of War prove that when crafted with passion and most of all with time, developers and designers and all the people involved in such projects can come up with some of the best gaming experiences, I know the industry and the market sometimes doesn't allow for that but it's amazing to see that some triple A games have this authenticity still.
