It's an OK game, but if you don't like, understand, or play the real sport, you probably won't like this one.

Golf. Guess what you play in Golf! Golf! You know, the sport where you hit little white balls with clubs and try to get those balls into a hole. I sort of like golf; this is an OK game, but if you don't like, understand, or play the real sport, you probably won't like this game.

There are 9 holes you can play, which is kind of limiting, although it might just be a NES-esque limitation. These nine holes you can play by yourself in Stroke Play, with a friend in Stroke Play (alternating). There's also Match Play, which is still the same holes alternating, but you're competing with your buddy instead of just... playing for fun.

Hitting the ball is pretty straightforward and easy to learn and do, although occasionaly the number of available shooting angles feels limiting. Also, it's pretty hard to get out of sandpits (bunkers), but I'm guessing that's how it would be in real life as well.

The game has pretty simple graphics, which display an overhead view of the current hole, as well as a 3rd-person view of your golfer off to the side. A nice touch is that you can see scenery like trees, bunkers, and the flagpole in front of your golfer, and the scenery shifts to the left or right as you adjust your aim. The golfer also has some satisfactory animation.

There's almost no sound in the game, save for the sound of the club-to-ball impact, and a "wooooOOOO" sound as the ball goes flying. I gave the sound a low score for that, but I decided to tilt the game pretty high as well, as this game doesn't deserve too bad a rating.
