I thought the 360 could only play certain original xbox games.

I don't normally review games so please bear with me as this is probably my third ever review. And I apologize now if I miss anything or forget something.

So Homefront, the long awaited title by THQ. The title that in all the hype was going to give C.O.D, BF-BC2 and M.O.H a run for it's money and possibly take the online fps crown. Now let me get this off my chest now, It's nowhere near good enough, both graphically or gameplay wise to even been in the same league as the three other games mentioned.

There are a number of concerning issues with Homefront that I felt I needed to warn people about, so here goes.

Short - Mostly all FPS's that are based around a multiplayer tend to have a short campaign, but excuse my language when I say, the campaign in Homefront is f****** short! We're talking 4-5 hours here, MAX, and without giving the player any real desire to play through it again, it leaves the game all up to it's multiplayer counterpart.

Boring - The campaign story at the beginning is good and it lays down the foundations to what could of been a really well thought out and interesting story. But no, half way through and your thinking 'we'll, all I've really done is run from the Koreans' You'll meet about 3 NPC's, who to be honest you wont give two hoots about and you'll finish the game thinking . . . Hmm, Ok multiplayer time.

Lackluster - There's nothing new here that hasn't been done by a number of FPS's already on the shelves today. Homefront follows the same online styles that so many of it's predecessors do and the campaign follows the same 'escape from here, get to here without dieing' gameplay. Homefront then could quite easily be bits and peaces of fps's grinded out into a mush ready to be served to pigs.

Buggy - From server problems to dead Koreans getting back up in the campaign and killing you, Homefront has a number of frustrating bugs and gameplay issues. The A.I is about as smart as you would expect from run and gun based coding and being that most of the time you have about 10 NPC's running at you, it's hard and frustrating to find your team mates just standing around the corner watching you get mowed down.

Graphics - The graphics in homefront are appalling. From the low res textures to the least AA used in a game, the graphics will lead you to believe that they would have been more suited to a last gen console. I have honestly seen better graphics on a Nintendo DS than in some parts of Homefront.

Online - Online was as far as I could tell quite a blast, when you can get into a game that is. There are your normal team based death matches and objective raids. The problem is that these modes are again very lackluster and in recent years have been done to death. Once again there is nothing new to the game modes except for Battle commander, but that really is just a game changer and not a new mode.

All that said it's not all doom and gloom for online. I loved the new idea of perks being carried through death. The gun fights feel solid and the everything feels responsive enough. The maps are really big and there are lots of places for people to play a sneaky game if they choose to. Flying helicopters and driving tanks and jeeps is great fun as is taking your mini gun turret across to the other side of the map to shoot the sniper who just got you. All in all though it has to be said, Homefront feels like a poor mans COD or BF-BC2.

Conclusion - Worth a rent but after a few weeks if you shelled out £40 or $60 for this, it's going to be an expensive coffee coaster.
