DC Heroes and Villains Come Together & Fight, Most Unoriginal Story and Game Possible

User Rating: 4 | Injustice: Gods Among Us X360
Well some people may crucify me for my view of Injustice: Gods Among Us but I best say my piece, I dislike the whole idea of Superheroes both in Comics, Films and video games. The concept has never truly interested me, and in a video game format it has never interested me either. My brother bought Injustice, as it was his type of game. So one day, as I was bored I picked it up and shoved it into my Xbox 360, within just an hour of playing it I was already hating it and thinking of it as another money-making attempt by game studios using Superheros as their strength.

Injustice immediately hit me as one of Warner Bros Games vivid attempts to cash in on Superhero themed video games, so upon putting the game into my console I was first hit by the almost obscured, rough drawn characters and their skins. Batman didn't seem much like his persona, and looked like he had been drawn roughly on some scrap paper, and as it was drawn was created by the game engine. Compared to the likes of Batman: Arkham Asylum, or even Batman: Arkham City the characters in Injustice look rushed, and far from truly showing the characters as they should be seen.

The most obvious negative aspect of Injustice for me, was as a game set in the world of Superman, Batman, The Joker etc, the worst way to play out their struggle would be a simulation fighting game, like Injustice is. For the story-line and plot of Injustice, I would rather have seen the story conveyed in an RPG game setting, perhaps with quests, leveling up and what you would expect to do in an RPG game. At the very least instead of an RPG set game, then the concept of Injustice could have been explored in an open-world adventure game. A simulation fighting game just shows Injustice to be just an attempt to cash in on the Superhero genre, and it's fans.

The Good:

- It's a fighting game, good for an hour or less of game-play before you become bored.

The Bad:

- Graphically, characters are envisioned as rough drawn caricatures, as are the environments you fight in.
- The story-line is unoriginal, and has been explored before in films and Comics.
- Dialogue is cringe-worthy, and you feel that Injustice simply conveys it's story onto you by force of the in-game video.
- For the price of the game, I would have expected far more than just one-on-one fights, perhaps some RPG or RTS elements.

All in all, if Mortal Kombat was a game you truly enjoyed, then Injustice as made by the creators of the Mortal Kombat series may be for you. Sadly as I am an avid fan of FPS, RTS, RPG and Adventure games, I expected much more from Injustice, considering the price of the game when I bought it for my brother.
