Arcade'y Racer Console Port But It's Really Not That Bad.

Well this game was a real surprise for me. I bought it as part of the THQ pack in the steam sale and to be honest seeing the review and the scathing comments of others I really was not expecting anything remotely playable.

OK set the scene the type of racing here is either street racing as depicted in films like Fast and Furious or Drift Racing. You start off in the rookie league and eventually work your way through seven higher leagues. With each league you will buy a particular car or adds mods to your existing car.

There is a good range of cars to play with with you have a further opportunity to pimp further. To get into the spirit of things I started off with a wide boy Citroen lowered the suspension and tinted the windows. My only complaint here was I could not fit a big bore exhaust.

The actual racing events were fun and varied. Unlike other users I suffered from no lag and the controls were pretty responsive. There no damage (unlike games like Grid) so it verged on the arcade style racer than realism. I used an Xbox 360 controller therefore had not difficulties in controller compatibility.I did try the Multiplayer but could only find several other people on there.

A surprise was the quality of the soundtrack. Mainly Mixes by the likes of Adam Freeland but included additional music by bands like the Prodigy. It was one of best soundtracks for a racer I had I heard.

OK in summary
There are better racing games out there .. But there are also far worse. It has quite a fresh take on the racing scene. If you can get it fairly cheap and prepared to use a controller its worth picking up.
