User Rating: 6.6 | Karaoke Stage PS2
Karaoke Revolution is a pretty good concept marred by poor execution. The most glaring fault in the game is that the pitch meter (the on-screen judge of your singing ability) isn't very accurate and doesn't necessarily reward accuracy of the song. You can merely hum the song and get endless perfect scores. If you do attempt to sing the song, prepare to be horribly disappointed, as even singing it exceptionally will still result in "Poor" or at best "Good" scores on most tracks. The concept of singing karaoke in a video game is a fun one, I'll say that, but since the execution is so poor, I wouldn't recommend this game to others. There's very little replay value in the game, as once you've sung all the songs you're done. There are no more songs to sing, and there are very few "unlockables" or other treats to justify playing the game. The redeeming quality of this game is the Multiplayer mode, and it's the only thing that made the tilt score so high. Watching your friends try to sing to the inaccurate, overdemanding engine is quite fun, as is listening to your friends sing in falsetto or do other things to attempt to sing some of the more difficult songs. The game isn't a *bad* one, but because of the way it "scores" you, it just isn't very much fun as a game. It'd be much better as a standalone karaoke engine without a scoring mode or a competition mode.
