Soul reaver was ahead of it's time!

When this game came out I didn't want to play it. I was so young I thought I would be afriad after seeing the main menu. I played it and I looked all over the city for some one to beat me up for not playing it sooner. The only word to decribe this game is classic.

For it's time these were the best graphics you could find. This is one of the few ps1 games you can play right now with out thinking how crappy the graphics are.

Game play however I thought could be better. Don't get me wrong the controls were great and you could have lots of fun with it. But as is the case with the series, you can come across the one puzzle that you have no clue what to do. The puzzles did nothing but (sorry for the lanuge) piss me off. This game was made so you could buy a walkthrough. However playing is fun. The combat may be a little easy but even still the controls were ahead of its time.

If I was spinal tap I would give the sound a 11. Back then voice acting was rare unless it was bad voice acting. I truly believe that this series was the first to not only have great voice acters but also use them as much as they could. The music also fit the mood, its very dark yet badass if used in the right way. The only way sound could be better is if, um... I can't think of anything they could of done.

Story gets the 9! The story was very smart, I mean VERY SMART! I played this game with some friends and they were easly lost withen the first minutes. However I love movies and games that are smart. The only reason I could not give this a 10 was because the ending was a cliff hanger. AKA you need to buy the sequals to finish the story. They could have given be just a little closer.

Over all this game is a classic and if you can't buy it now look to your friends or ebay and get this game. Or get the whole series other than blood omen 2 (that really has nothing with the grand scale of the story). If you don't well I might eat your soul after I suck your blood. Evil Laugh!
