A great game and a great change within the series.

User Rating: 9 | Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver PS
For those who played "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" new that is was a good game and it was well received for it's storyline, voice work and artistic style. This is the next game in the franchise, and it does the series very well...

Story: 9 (Revenge, retribution, more twists)
Graphics: 8 (When this video game was released, the graphics were pretty good compared to other games in it's generation)
Music: 10 (The vibes around the world of Nosgoth make the game even more immersive)
Controls: 7 (The controls are probably the only fault in this game, some movements along with combat unfortunately remind players that we're still playing a game)
Sound: 9.5 (Excellent voice work and sometimes creepy effects do the game very well to a high standpoint)

The story starts off years after "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain." The vampire Kain, now ruler of Nosgoth, created lieutenants to help rule the land. The greatest lieutenant, "Raziel" (the protagonist of this story) "evolves" and shows his latest "change" (Kain and his lieutenants evolve eventually, but Raziel evolved into something before Kain, which considered a betrayal), and in result is forced into "The Abyss", in turn nearly destroying Raziel, yet surviving and becoming a wraith (A Soul Reaver) in turn allying with "The Elder God" in order to get revenge and retribution upon Kain and his lieutenants for betraying him. Although the paths of revenge and retribution have been done before, in the way the game was made only makes this game more interesting in a dark and Gothic fantasy world.

The game-play is decent, if not average unfortunately. The gimmicks of spells and weaponry are modest and perform their part well throughout the game, but the game suffers upon somewhat repetitive and sometimes eerie combat, some may find it tolerable, while others might otherwise drop the controller and stop playing, unless the terrific story keeps them playing to see what happens next.

Overall, this is a fantastic game and a huge element in the success in the "Legacy of Kain" series, and I couldn't recommend it anymore then with the rating I gave, for those who might be skeptical on buying this game, then simply find views on those who played it, borrow it from a friend, etcetera. Otherwise I strongly recommend getting this amazing game.
