It has good ideas, but is executed poorly with many flaws in gameplay and design.

The Good: Boss missions in the career are fun, funny cutscenes, some good song choices.

The Bad: A lot of bad song choices, most of career mode is boring, graphics have unsettling textures, restricted customization modes, insultingly easy.

I love music games. They're so much fun and they have great music. When I heard that there would be a rock band game made out of Legos, so I got it. It was fun! Well, for a while.

In this game, you are a person trying out for a band. You get in and you work your way to being the greatest band ever. That's really the whole premise of the story. Now onto the review.

The career mode is decent. The actual setlists and the achievements you have to get are boring and uninteresting. It's the boss missions that I like. Basically, something happens in the story and you have to play a song to carry it out. For example, you play Tick Tick Boom by The Hives to blow up a building, you play In Too Deep by Sum41 to battle a giant squid, and you play Thunder by Boys Like Girls to make a thunder storm appear to grow crops. I like these, because they're both entertaining and funny.

The cutscenes themselves are funny. Every single one of them, though without words, manages to do something wacky and zany to a clever level. I like these! They give the game a nice taste.

The song choices are okay. I mean they're fine, but they could be so much better. They've got some songs that are a great fit, like You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi, Tick Tick Boom by The Hives, and Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast) by Lostprophets, but some songs that shouldn't have been thought of being put in there, like Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves (I hate this song), Free Falling by Tom Petty (Really repetitive to play), and We Will Rock You by Queen (It's a good song, but it isn't suiting for the Rock Band engine). The setlist is also really short. There are only 48 songs and there are no unlockeable ones. It's kind of disappointing.

The graphics aren't very impressive. Everything just seems textured and shaded weird. Not to mention the graphics, while you're playing, are blurry and don't look quite right. They look like 3D South Park characters made of Legos.

What also disappointed me was the customization mode. It's very restricting. You just scroll through the sections and choose what face, legs, arm, hair, and instruments you want and the color. You don't really have the freedom to make whatever you want like in the other Rock Band and Guitar Hero games.

The worst thing about this game is the difficulty. It's easy. Insultingly easy. Every song, with the exception of one or two songs, can easily be completed on the expert difficulty. I know that they're trying to make it easier to play for novice players, but they could've added a little bit of difficulty! It's not like the songs are that much fun to play either. Most of the songs follow the most basic of patterns, making it even easier than it would've been already.

Overall, this game had a lot of potential. It had a lot of good features, like the boss missions, entertaining cutscenes, and the few good songs, but it faltered due to a majority of poorly chosen songs, boring career modes, oddly textured graphics, restricting customization modes, and insultingly easy gameplay. This is one of those games that's worth playing for a little bit, but ends up getting shelved, never to be played again.
