Since i bought a ps4 this month and haven't touched a Playstation game for years being Xbox and Pc exclusive kind of guy i must say, wow!
I subscribed to the Playstation plus program straight away not knowing spider-man was even included in the subscription, but damn I'm happy for it.
Spider-Man’s first hours are engaging. After an epic introduction that sees him fight off Wilson Fisk, players are given full control off spider-man mid swinging and it feels great. The map of New York is huge and variant from the brick buildings and train tracks of Harlem, through the busy Times Square, to the beautiful skyscrapers of the southern commercial district.
The visuals of this game, it is stunning, but the combat as well is my favorite part of this game. If you have played the Batman Arkham games you will be familiar with this combat, Punch, dodge, counter and gadgets. it is simple and straight to the point, but you can not deny it is satisfying when facing a bunch of enemies and you tossing them around like they are nothing. The combat thou can be very flashy or very straight forward, it all depends on the player and what combat style you prefer, you can even go in all stealth in most scenarios, but don't expect Metal gear solid level of stealth but it is okay
When it comes to the story i think its okay, its not very surprising. You can clearly see where everything is going and you are just waiting for certain things to happen, its not bad but you kinda get that feeling "come on we all know that is going to happen lets just go" through the story you will get to play some lazy stealth segments as MJ (spider-mans girlfriend) for me they are just boring and you kinda want to speed through them.
Its trying to break the "repetitiveness" of spider-mans gameplay, but its not working then those MJ segments are so boring and slow and spider-mans gameplay is so fun. you can make his gameplay as varied as you self please. For one mission you can go in swinging on bad guys, but maybe on the next one you use only stealth or only gadgets, its truly all up to the player.
You also have a lot of side quests and dlc missions you can do that is a lot of fun, there is truly a lot to do in this game.
I like to keep my reviews short and simple because my Ad-hd wont let me write and focus for long., i write this now since its my first review and if people keep following my reviews they will know.
For me I only have two gripes for this game and that is all of the MJ missions which is only slowing down the game and being boring. the other gripe is the story, you know what is going to happen, nothing new or unexpected which made me not care so much for the story.
So for Spider-man Ps4 I will give it a 8/10 Great game.
