Hey, Most franchises are not like the first or second part in series and that means the third one is not going to be the best at least yet it goes beyond that for many or even those less expected even are fans who wouldn't a finish or end and then it comes the fourth in a series making do wows and wonders amazingly more attractive or surely best selling. It all was said go justify if a game enters into a franchise why not to continues more and more ahead and just not stops somewhere maybe even in its best since coming to birth like "Brothers In Arms"?! Metro did come again with a more vast and injecting difference and choices also a map more like open world but, yes but it lacks somehow attractions at least you see like it is a likable Fallout, oh no, no, its core still faithful to previous games. But it is not fully metro! We must expect a better one maybe in the next game! Enemies are sometimes challenging why not excellent it is surely depended on variations could make a new world but it is a continue depended on last game a new way and route you have advised group to accompany with for a better life so it is maybe the other reason it lacks some innovation, yes much new things but not revolutionary! Metro Exodus has different ending but it is anyway tragic and more if you experience the part you don't expect. Love is a part of it making you continue the game finding out the ending while so challenging it gets better at the end.
