Frustrating. Great look and simple controls. Terrible level design.

I'm currently very frustrated with this game. The boss modes are making me insane, more so than any game I can remember. For instance, Rock the Ragnarok is a timed level with three phases. The only one that counts in the final one, where you have to destroy a souped-up prototype enemy plane. To get there, you have to destroy, rapidly, a set number of other planes, and one other sub-boss. The problem? The planes hide from you. All of them hide from you. They are faster, have a better turning radius, and they don't care that you have a timed mission. To make it worse -- much, much worse -- in order to play the level at all, and fail it repeatedly -- you have to sit through what seems like ten minutes of cut-scenes and click-through dialog. For this one, several screen of dialog (gibberish, gibberish, click, click, click) and then a long cut-scene, an exposition cut-scene, and then you get to phase one. If you finish that, you get another cut-scene. If you finish that, you get another cut-scene. And if you fail? Well, you get to click, watch, wait, and wait some more. To top it off, the controls are not customizable. Controls are great for the less intense levels, but when things get tight, I more than once found the nun-chuck slipping out of my hand just as as I rounded on an enemy plane. Not enjoyable. This game had great promise, but the levels are drudgery, and for no good reason. Maybe it worked better on other platforms. And don't bother to register the game either -- EA's website is a mess, wasting your time just to collect your email address for marketing.
