Picked this up when it was free on Epic Games. Glad I didn't spend any money getting it. Would've been disappointed.
Pretty much the same as 2k20. MyPlayer builder is slightly different. Better customization in builder, but you can't make smaller post scorers because it's impossible to get 90+ Post Hook, Fade and Post Moves on anything less than 6'9". I wish we could choose a player to base our builds off. You can't recreate a lot of players in NBA history.
Neighbourhood is a time waster as you have to run around and sit through loading screens to do things which could be done from a menu (e.g. buying gear)
Addition of usa teams and all star teams is pretty cool in play now.
Issues I mentioned in 2k20 review, what they did and didn't fix:
- Ingame advertisements - Nope, at least I'm desensitized to it now.
- Dribbling to shooting animations are bad - Sort of? Not as obvious, still wacky animation transitions.
- Defense assignments, breakdown, team chemistry. No. AI often leave off-ball players open, slow to react when players break to the rim, meaning the get a look wide open in the paint.
- Helicopters - Haven't played much park this year, don't know.
- Grind to 99 - Nope. Your player probably isn't even 99. I copied over my player stats/badges into Create a Player and found he was 83ovr.
