If NFS Most Wanted was the purebred, NFS Hot Pursuit is the hybrid. But still it's better than The Run.

Don't get me wrong. I am a critic. Not some god-forsaken fanboy. Although I love NFS since Most Wanted, I'm sad to see the series decline because of some serious mind-crippled innovators.

Yeah, I'm writing this review in rage, pissed off by yet another FU achievements and the constant defeats of "distinction" and "gold" medals, but I have played this game awhile so I decide this is the moment to write a review. Think I should calm myself down first? Why? Isn't sex the sweetest when you just made it? If it is rage after playing Hot Pursuit, that's it!

Let's compare this game with the godlike Most Wanted and atrocious The Run.

Graphics (+MW, -The Run)
Soundtrack (~MW, +The Run)

Ar... I really hate to be so technical. Let's just jump to the point.

Hot Pursuit inherits what Undercover began - crashes of your vehicle. NFS was no longer the lovely arcade driving game where you actually drive a speedy tank that stops at nothing but spike-strips. Now every now and then, I mean very frequently, the civil or a random lamp post will wreck your ride on collision.

This is WICKED. Need for Speed made love with some Burnout or something or that nature and the newborn child is called "Watch Your Speed" or "Need for Crash".

And yeah, there are two forbidden apples in the gaming world: No checkpoint is the first. The timer is the second. These two make you replay again, again, again, to no end. I don't think the term "replay value" is appropriate here.

Hot Pursuit houses the second - the f__king timer. The "win medal BS" started - yes, again with Undercover. It was called "Domination" of a race. Now it is back with the lovely timer. Failing it and you gotta restart the whole thing.

OK, what's good's left? Shame. Without the timer and constant car crashes, this could have rocked. Graphics, cops-and-racer career, soundtrack, these could have been aces.

Unfortunately, like the horrible camera angle in Dino Crisis 3, disastrous designs CRASH this game.

This year, Hot Pursuit gave birth to the even less promising The Run, which even restricts how many times you can crash. I hate The Run with my life.

It's time to bring back the heroism of Most Wanted and Carbon. Or at least let's get rid of the TIMER and CRASH!

Race to the Finish line is all that matters.
