As you play the game you gain bounty points by winning races, drifting, taking down opponents, etc. As you win more races and gain more points you unlock more races and faster cars. The cars are segregated in multiple categories and a race can only have one class of cars that have similar abilities to keep things fair.
Hot Pursuit comes with a great roster of cars from multiple brands such as Audi, BMW, Nissan, Aston Martin, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg, McLaren, Bugatti and many more. The cars all look beautiful and sound great and you can see a great attention to detail on them. For example, in the real world, the Veyron comes with a spoiler, which comes on at a certain speed. If you continue to accelerate, the car s height drops, and if you brake, then the spoiler bends and acts as an air brake. The exact same behavior is observed in the game as well. Similarly, you can see the air vents on the sides of the Lamborghini Murcielago opening when you cross a certain speed limit. The game lacks any car customization option, however, and the only option you get is changing the color of the vehicle.
