The visuals in NSMBU almost make up for the fact that this is the same tried and true 2D Mario formula. The game tries a few new ideas that work for the most part, and at least it doesn't any gimmick like the coins in the 3DS entry. Thankfully, the DLC of New Super Luigi U amps up the challenge for what's pretty much an entirely second adventure, improving the overall experience that NSMBU has to offer.
