"Paragon is the MOBA from Epic Games that puts you in the fight with explosive action, direct third-person control, and deep strategic choice." Release date: 2016 Genre: MOBA Publisher/Developer: EpicGames.

Hello my name is Beanid, This is my initial review of Paragon the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) on the PS4. As of today I have put about 6 hours of game play as Gideon, He is a Ranged Energy Damage Class. The graphics are crisp and have had great FPS ( First Person Shooter) in all battles with multiple heroes on screen.

Paragon is a visually appeasing, fun, strategical, skill and knowledge based, MOBA that is easy to get the hang of in the first three-four hours of play and if you spend the time to read everything as a beginner, ( Intermediate or experienced MOBA players will pick it up more quickly and will require less reading ) the games learning curve becomes a little less steep making it more enjoyable to play and If you have time for a thirty minute match it becomes a great game to pick up and put down when the match is done. I would recommend this MOBA to anyone looking for a new type of game to play or try out, I have been enjoying myself streaming and answering basic questions for people and some have made the move and purchased the Paragon Founders Pack. Below I am going to give a brief review of my few first hours of game play after i had chosen a Hero that suited my play style.

I spent the first bit watching the included tutorial and basics about Paragon within the game. I have experience playing MOBA games in Starcraft and had spent a little time playing Dota2 on Steam and I found these videos very clear and informative on how to start playing. The Cards portion of the game needs a decent tutorial as well but I'll get to that later in the review.

I then spent the time reading and reviewing each hero to have an idea how the classes were and how they might play. There are Melee and Ranged Physical and Energy Based Attackers, Tanks and there are also Support Heroes. I settled myself into the Hero Gideon, he is a Ranged Energy based Attacker with a Ranged Basic Energy Attack, A Teleport, Two Area Of Effect Attacks, and a Ranged single target Slow attack, this Hero seemed to compliment my play style and made it my Hero.

Cards are a great way to buff your character and have different items and passive as well as active skills to choose from, however I wish there was a tutorial on these since after I had played a few matches and ranked up and gotten some Card packs and unlocked the ability to create a "Deck" I struggled a bit to fully understand how the Equipment and Upgrade cards work together for the Hero I chose, but after playing with them it was easier to grasp.

Depending on the character you are playing as, you will need to select the correct Equipment cards for your Hero. I am Playing as Gideon a Ranged Energy class, so I need to choose equipment cards that give + Energy Damage and not +Physical damage as it will not effect my damage and will be a wasted card if its equipped and is in the "Deck". By reading the Hero's skills it shows which damage type your Hero's skills are and by putting that type into your Deck that you can create after level 5 and you will notice a small boost in your Hero's damage.

A side note for equipment cards, is regardless of what your hero type is it is always good to have a mix of equipment cards that have +Energy & +Physical Armor since you never know who you're up against until your in the game and then can equip the cards to suit the battle.

After getting the hang of Decks and Equipment it became a more intricate game from the first three mins to the end of the forty-five minute battles that I played. POTIONS are a necessity and can always help you get back to base for a heal and some equipment upgrades. Creating decks based on the Hero that you are playing is always a good thing to do before trying out a new hero.

One of the main draw ins for me to Paragon is the fact that it's Cross-Platform with PS4 and PC. The knowledge of your hero and your deck composition helps but the majority of it comes down to strategy and skill which makes a lot more of a difference and it's not necessarily who clicks first or uses their skill first, you have to aim and learn the range of your Hero and his/her skills. Having a controller or a mouse doesn't really give you an advantage in this game.
