It's the start of something big

I just want everyone to keep in mind that it is a game preview. I feel like the game gets way too much flack on the internet, Even from journalists, because they can't see to grasp the concept of what a game preview is. A game preview isn't the completed game and that make they clear each and every time you launch the game. So taking a step back in that regard, I'll start my review.

There's a bit of lag navigating the main menu and that is an immediate no for me. I expect a smooth running title menu and am very disappointed that I can't even switch to another category without there being a few seconds of lag in between. Also, There is noticeable lag when you wait to start a match, During the plane ride and up until the point where you land on the ground. Again, I feel that that needs the most fixing. There should be a smoother transition there, It shouldn't be a piece of constant lag. That is a definite must fix for me.

Before the first patch, The visuals were ok but lacked definition. The visuals do look better after the patch, A lot better, but I would still like to see more work done on them as I still feel like the game doesn't truly look or feel like a UHD/4K experience. There isn't a lot of bugs, I tip my hat to them on that as I expected there'd be a lot more for such a massive game. It's just the lag can be annoying at times and, as mentioned before, it should be their number one priority to fix.

The gameplay is fine, It's very addicting to play. Reminds me a bit of Grand Theft Auto with the gunplay. I think melee fighting needs some tweaking, The vehicle controls need work as well as that feels a bit clunky. I am a bit annoyed that you aren't allowed to jump over small walls, I think that would be a useful feature to have. And they have to add rolling to the game, They have to. It's annoying not being able to leap out of the way from the vehicle trying to ram into you. They have to add the rolling option as a way to manoeuvre away from it and avoid a cheap death.

Other quick notes: Make it easier or faster to reload. Team killing is a big issue, They need to stop it from happening and ban those that do it. Teammates will kill you for your loot and it's freaking annoying. It's why I stopped playing teams altogether until the issue is addressed. Also, What is up with these loot boxes? You raise up this in-game currency and all you get a majority of the time is one different costume piece, It's a joke. They should lower the price of the box if that is the case or add cases of different worth where the more you pay, The more you get. Another thing, Let's stop these stupid in-game purchases. $10 for a camo outfit? Are you serious?

Overall: 6/10
The first patch was a step in the right direction. It fixed a decent amount of the visual issues and they now allow you to carry 3 weapons instead of 2, I like that. I just think there's so much more to fix in the game that we probably won't see it as a high-quality game for quite a few more patches. That doesn't stop PUBG from being a ton of fun to play and it certainly doesn't stop me from highly recommending it to friends, Which I do all the time.

There's a lot of work that needs to be done, Everyone knows that. I just don't see the point in bashing the game when they made it clear from the jump it's not gonna be a finished product for a while. Now if you wanna wait, That's cool, but for me, I bought it day one and continue playing it. It's gonna be awesome seeing how this game evolves over time and if the first patch is any indication of how things are gonna turn out in the future, I think you are gonna see a game that is gonna maintain a steady amount of players for years to come.
