You don't need a degree in physics to know this game is fun.

User Rating: 9 | Quantum Break XONE

This game is a 3rd person narrative adventure that incorporates some pretty solid shooting segments that are made a lot of fun with time powers. Every stage takes place in a set piece style environment with enormous attention to detail.

It's mostly corridor style, in the sense there is usually just one way to go, when walking through narrative parts, but there are some time puzzles and collectibles to find in these sections, while large open sections are used in gunfights.

This isn't a cover shooter like gears of war. You're meant to move around and use your time powers to survive enemy encounters as you're frequently outnumbered.

So, what exactly makes this gamy fun and worth playing?

The time travel narrative is well thought and and is mostly free of loopholes and paradoxes that plague the genre. It's truly entertaining and is supplemented by really well produced live action sequences at the end of every Act.

The art design is top notch, the game is beautiful and there is a lot of attention paid to the smallest details in the game. Especially in sequences where time is breaking, slowing down or stopped. Which happens frequently, and is extremely well animated.

The game must have been patched at some point because the issues some reported about difficult gunplay and having to look characters in the eye to hear them speak are gone. Running around and managing your time powers in gunfights is especially fun, and when you die, you feel like it's your fault and you prepare better, except in one environment where there are cars that explode after being shot a lot, you might die unexpectedly.

So, this game is a must buy for any fan of narrative adventure games, who enjoy 3rd person gunfights. The mixed reviews astonish me, as this is one of the rare games I'll be giving a second play through, and maybe even a third, further down the line.
