FUN, destructive, but comes boring after some consecutive hours of gaming

User Rating: 8 | Red Faction: Armageddon PS3

The game is all about redeeming himself, Darius Mason, our protagonist, after he was deceived to unleash the martian bugs by Adam Hale. Adam Hale is his major enemy that claims to have connection to these martian creatures.

So, I found the game similar to Resistance series, but on a third person perspective. Shooting, shooting, and shooting aliens. But I found this game better than Resistance because aside from holding on the gun trigger, you can do more things, but not so many.

On selected missions, you are required to ride an armored suit with machine gun and missile, that can also charge destroying anything in its path. You will also ride the Crawler and the Mantis, a kind of four legged spider like semi-large robot. Equipped with electric beam/plasma laser and missile, also can destroy anything in its path by simply walking through them. Lastly, you have to ride a flying vehicle (forgot its name). You'll just do it one time in a single mission but it's cool, on a first person view inside the windshield of this aircraft. In total, you can ride & control 3 vehicles.

Here comes shooting. There are many variety of weapons, from Maul (crushing hammer), two handed pistols, shotgun, machine gun, rocket launcher, grenade launcher, nano heat detecting wall passing rifle, plasma blaster (charge for higher damage), nano beam, and the one I loved most, the Magnet Gun. The Magnet Gun is unique among the other games since it's the only game I found this kind of gun, where you need to fire the first mark on any enemy or building, then fire the second mark where you want to collide the first you marked. So I simply slam my enemies everywhere, also it has no ammo, so unlimited. Also, you can have the Unicorn gun after you beat the game. A small live unicorn holding its tail, anus pointing front. So as you shoot, it will fire rainbow colored lasers while the unicorn is screaming. It's cute but girly and corny.

Nano Power. Darius has nano powers, coming from his bracelet device on left wrist where S.A.M. is also attached. You can do Force (destroying anything in your front on a short distance with a single energy pulse), stun nearby enemies, power-up your firing rate and damage, and create barrier. These skills are upgradeable.

There are also various kind of ENEMIES. Crawling Bugs, Shooting Bugs (using bio-organic gun/missile), invisible bugs, acid/mortar throwing beasts, Monoliths and Tentacles that both rise from the ground, Cultists (human enemy soildiers with Masked Rider-like helmets), and enemy Robot Crawlers.

The best part, DESTRUCTION/DEMOLITION. I found it really fun watching large structures fall to your face. Smashing all sides of a building using the Maul, Magnet Gun or simply by punching, then watch them collide on your view. You can repair them very conveniently using nano force (holographic like).

Total gameplay, fun from the first hours, shooting enemies, destroying everything, riding destructive vehicles, but went boring after some hours of consecutive gaming. I felt no challenge at all since it's easy to kill everything (I almost killed most of my enemies using only the Magnet Gun), when life is low, hide or just stay inside the Nano Barrier and your life is restored. Also, you can finish the game in 6-11 hours. I heard Red Faction: Guerrilla is an open-world destructive game, so here, they removed your right to roam around, but still... it's fun.
