What's the appeal here

User Rating: 1 | Red Faction: Armageddon X360

Visually, It's one of the most awful looking games I have ever seen. Having all that destruction available, and you can pretty much destroy anything in the game, comes at a price. And that price is having a game that looks like it came out in 2005 in comparison to 2011. I honestly didn't know a single thing about this game, A friend recommended it and it was free with gold so I figured why not? And I honestly thought it was one of the earlier Xbox 360 releases but sadly, This game came out in 2011. How you could put out something that looks so terrible is beyond me, It really is. There was no excuse for it then and there isn't now.

Now jumping into the gameplay. It's your basic over the shoulder shooter, Very similar to Gears. The ability to run seems to be broken as there is no stamina system yet you can't sprint for more than a moment or two before you are forced to go back to walking. The auto-aim helps quite a bit when trying to shoot enemy after enemy but it doesn't work so well when you go for a melee attack. And for a game that totes the ability to destroy everything, It gets repetitive after the first hour or two. After the second hour, It becomes mind-numbingly boring and that's a real killer for any shooter if you ask me. If I don't enjoy playing it by the time I am 1/4 or 1/3 into the game then I am not gonna enjoy it by the time I get to the end, If anything I'd feel happy I no longer have to play it again. And for this game, I can't wait to be done with it because the gameplay is just that unoriginal and boring.

Up next, like most shooters, we are treated to weirdly placed collectables, in the form of audio logs, that does nothing to help explain or support the laughably bad story and poorly done characters in this game. And there's anything worse than the visuals and the gameplay, It's the story and that's saying something. You know the more that I think about it, The story reminds a bit too much of the Gears storyline, which isn't surprising considering they pretty much ripped off the gameplay from Gear. I mean heck, If you are gonna rip off a franchise, At least don't be so freaking obvious about it. It's being caught that's even lower than being an unoriginal development team. Seriously.

Overall: 1/10
I don't like to give out 1's. Most games I normally end up giving 5 or 6, Even if I am not much of a fan of it. Yet somehow, This game just takes the freaking cake. I can't say a single redeemable thing about it. It's just awful, It honestly is.
