Such a disappointing remake that doesn't live up to potential

Resident Evil 3, while matching what Resident Evil 2 did stylistically, is a beautiful looking game with little noticeable flashes either through bugs or glitches. The gameplay is also similar to how the recent RE 2 remake was and is incredibly satisfying to play. However, there are quite a few issues that I have with the game and they're a key reason I rank it so low.

Let's start about that instantly forgettable Online mode titled Resistance. Treat as it's own separate game, You either play as a survivor trying to escape or a mastermind trying to kill the survives by playing cards that activate traps or monsters in-game. Not only does this game heavily favour the survivers, making it quite difficult to win as the mastermind, but it also features some rather clunky gameplay that just makes it painfully unsatisfying to play. I feel like splitting the focus on this and the main game resulted in a lot of the problems that the main game suffered from.

A big disappointment for me in the campaign is that Nemesis is really treated as a set-piece, someone you face at designated times and there is really no threat of him outside of those times. Want to know what made the Resident Evil 2 remake so fun? You had the constant threat of Mr X looming around, Be it in a good situation or bad, He was coming after you. With Nemesis, The fact that he appears so little means he doesn't live up to the hype nor the expectations that he would have a much larger presence in this game than he did. Especially when the parts he was featured in were just annoyingly simple boss battles that didn't provide any kind of challenge.

The map of the campaign is fairly linear, there is little for actual exploration and, for the most part, you could clear everything out the first time around rather than having to backtrack to it. It is also a very short campaign, I beat it in just over 4 hours, and it offers no replay value as there is no other excuse to really give it another go outside of being a completionist. Another low mark for me would be that the campaign was split between Jill and Carlos when Jill is a far superior character and should have been the singular main focus. This should have been her story, as it was in the original, and by taking that away, you cheapen her as a character and you cheapen the experience as a whole because you don't feel as if you genuinely overcame anything.

Overall: 5/10
This remake was short fun while it lasted but failed to leave the kind of impression that the RE 2 remake left. Needlessly adding this poorly done online mode stripped away from any extra effort they could have put into the campaign to add more depth to it. Treating Nemesis the way that they did is also a big downer and, all in all, it brought down the experience for me as a whole.
